I have both NZ topos + NZ Open GPS Autorouting maps loaded on my 1Gig card (Garmin 76CSX). At one stage I also had one of the shonkymaps loaded as well. With your 1 gig card you will have plenty of room. For NZ autorouting I recommend you getting the NZ Open GPS map. It comes at a very good price (f...

Re: FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, after 25 years, 5 months, and 10 days with the one employer, as of 38 minutes ago, I am officially UNEMPLOYED. Can anyone top that time frame for working for the one employer? Yep. A bike accident forced my retirement 2 years ago after 38 & 1/2 years with the one employer and after a 10 mo...

GSAK can't load them directly - the loading has to go through the Garmin POI Loader program. That is no big deal - whenever you plug the gps's USB cable into your PC and power up the gps the POI Loader program runs and asks, "what do you want to do?" and suggests 2 options, one of which is load Cust...

Yes. I use GSAK to create the the GPX export files that are saved to a folder from where the Garmin POI Loader program loads them to my gps.
I have a number of fairly simple formats that satisfy my needs - apart from storing all my owned caches and my personal waypoints as Custom POI I mainly ju...

One thing you can do if your Garmin is an 'x' model is to preload all your caches as Custom POI to the microSD card. The only limitation is the amount of free space you have on your card. Custom POIs can be hunted down just like any normal waypoints, except that the Garmin 'geocaching mode' isn't av...

The second way is to regularly set all caches to archived. Then reload new PQs over the top and those that are still active will become active again, those that are archived will stay that way. Thanks Cached. I like that second technique. Just wish I had read of it before I did a lot of manual weed...

Those with Palm PDA's might like to check here for programs that you can use out in the field.
Equivalent functions to GeoCalc are available in Mimee (coordinate change, datum format) and Navigate (bearing and distance and projection). Although though most gps's can also do these calculations i...

Hi dak, Waypoint name: %smart %drop2 %typ1 %con1 %dif/%ter %last4 %user2 Cache description: %hint
That's great! I see that you have used the %user2 tag in the cache name. Just for interest sake, what do you put in the UserData2 field?
In my GSAK grid page I have placed the UserData2 column ne...

The second link should of course be this one. The real beauty is that when cache hints are loaded into the 88 character length 2nd field it can serve as a limited backup in the event of your PDA going unserviceable whilst on a cache raid (happened to me).
