Re: Help required with regards to purchasing a GPS.
The etrex is a great unit, but it only comes with a very basic world map. Comprehensive maps will cost extra, unless you use open source maps as has been previously suggested.

Re: Speaking of Angels... Conflicted.
There are about 55 older caches still around so it's not absolutely vital to keep it going but I would try. I used to live in Miller St just opposite during the late 70s and early 80s and it is a great location for a cache. The last find looks a little dodgy. Very new cacher with the find surrounde...

Re: Jervis Bay Territory caches - listed as NSW
It may be a moot point anyway, as there is a strong push to give it back to NSW.

Selected Ambidexterous, I'm a product of a achool system where teachers were encouraged to ... encourage students to conform. Me too! Pyscho nuns :stabby I do many things with either hand, something which has proven to be very useful in my profession, so perhaps it was a blessing in disguise?

Re: water bottle holder belt
Why not a camel-bak style backpack hydration system? I have a 3L bladder in mine, plus room to carry other bits and pieces. That way there is nothing banging around your waist, and GPSr etc. is easy to hang off the webbing at the front. I find mine very comfortable to walk, run, climb, etc with.

Re: ethos for replacing logbooks, containers?
You shouldn't have logged a find - you DID NOT find it. As for replacing the cache, because you did not find it, you can never be sure it wasn't still there. When hiding a cache the cache owner agrees to maintain the cache. You should have logged a DNF to alert the owner that something may have been...

Re: Brand new and thinking about a GPS
There's a whole forum devoted to hardware and software . There are a couple of "Which xxx GPS should I buy" threads. Yes, I did look through those but they are now several years old so of not much use really. If you go to the last few pages, you'll find that they are very current, the threads are c...

I get a few of these each month, I generally tell them that I need to move to another phone and put them on hold, and leave them there!
