Re: Your geocaching goals 2013

So with the year rapidly drawing to a close, it's nice to look back at what we were hoping to get done. My goals for this year were to fill in my calendar, reach 1000 GC finds and hide a couple of caches. I have only December 25 to go on my calendar, I'm currently on 1028 finds and I have two caches...

Re: Early idea for 2013/2014 race

Looks like a quiet game this year. Might be a nice change after last year.

Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?

The screen is a bit small and could be an issue if you plan on using it a lot for reading descriptions and logs. I tend to use my phone to read cache descriptions and logs and the GPS for compass navigation once I get close. The touch screen would be much easier for the kids to navigate than the etr...

Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?

I've had an etrex 30 for about a year now and I'm very happy with it. The joystick takes a bit of getting used to and the screen is a bit small at times but otherwise fantastic. The GLONASS gives great accuracy and I've loaded openstreetmaps which is great in my area for both roads and walking trail...

Re: Munzees!

I've found the same problem. I used to download a gpx of munzees and have them shown on my map along with GC and GCA caches but since they've overcrowded the map, I tend to ignore them.
I have a look when I'm out and about but I've pretty much lost interest.

Re: Google Earth issues

When you paste it in put loc: in front of the coords (make sure it's lower case.) Works on all versions as far as I can tell

Re: Garmin Oregon 650

I have an etrex 30 and use GPS + GLONASS and it not only gives a better accuracy, especially under tree cover but also a faster lock than using the GPS alone.

Re: Geo Apps??

When I started caching I used cgeo and it is good but have been using locus for a while now. I use OSM maps which are great but the best thing is that it works with any gpx files so I have all my caches (GC, GCA and munzees) all on the map at the same time. It also does it's own navigation (needs da...

Just saw this locationless cache. Maybe there's a location here that can help.

I've got an Etrex 30 that I'm happy with. Let me know if you want to have a look before you buy.

Re: GLONASS

I have an etrex 30 and a Samsung S2 both with GLONASS. Although I don't have another GPS to compare it to it does lock on quickly and I almost always have 3m accuracy with at least 15 satellites except under very heavy tree cover. Sitting at home now I have 9 GPS and 8 GLONASS satellites. I've found...

Re: GSAK on android tablet

I use a Samsung Galaxy tab to transfer PQ gpx files to my etrex 30 using a USB/SD card adapter bought on ebay. It looks like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-OTG-Connection-Kit-SD-Card-Reader-for-SAMSUNG-GALAXY-TAB-10-1-P7500-P7510-/360614569585?pt=AU_TabletAccessories&hash=item53f64da671 I used...

Re: Calculating offsets

Although the description says offset gz, it looks like gz coords are just the posted coords with the decimal parts replaced by the called values.

Re: GCA Android App - GA Cacher

If you logged it as found using the app you can find it by using the history button on the main page. Long press on it in the list to get the option to view details.
