I hadn't factored in an OS into the $700 budget. I haven't yet found any techie (or anyone) that has ANYTHING positive to say about Vista so the thought of having to pay for it is scary. Maybe try Windows 7 Beta? I have used Vista for over a year now, mind you on a top of the range Dell XPS M1730 l...

Firstly, I would like to say thankyou to C@W for his continued discussion of this proposal that has been presented to the GCA community. I would also like to thank all members who have currently voiced their opinion, and those that will in the future. I am not fundamentally against the GCA website, ...

CanSolo - which one are you actually recommending here? One is the top and the other the best. The 1000H is definitely currently the top of the Netbooks that are out there. The HP Mini 2133 looks pretty, has Vista, and larger keys than most, and actually looks the best of what I have seen. I see th...

Papa Bear Left, The 1000H is definitely currently the top of the Netbooks that are out there. The MSI Wind U100 is badly balanced (anything other than completely flat it can easily overbalance), otherwise has the same specs and similar performance. The HP Mini 2133 looks pretty, has Vista, and large...

How about you try this link - I have had similar problems at work getting this issue too - more to do with the firewalls causing the default IP stack to not handle enough connections

Not every cache is going to be the great view or challenge that some people thrive upon. Sometimes the micro hidden in broad daylight is just as challenging, and there haven't been too many caches that haven't left me without a smile on my dial when I have found it. Generally, I am of the opinion th...

Usually it's looking at the cigarette lighter, and seeing if there is anything plugged in. Only left something plugged in twice, and both times they went through the car, and that was parked outside my own house. Lost a Explorist 210 that way - was under about 3-4 newspapers and a jacket, so they ha...

Spindoc, thanks for the tip on Smartcaching. Now have what I feel is the perfect paperless option!! Stick with my Explorist 500 to do the finding, but use my Nokia 6110 Navigator with Smart Caching to read the exported caches from GSAK. It's a good way to save on the data used by Trimble's Geocache ...

Explorist XL reading SD Card from Explorist 500
Will an explorist XL read the caches on an SD card that was originally in an exolporist 500??
If so, how can it be forced to read the information??

Aren't we forgetting the old cacher Indiana Jones, who is also afraid of snakes, and took a statue and left sand, doesn't seem like a fair swap to me!! Can't say I've been put off a cache due to snakes, even if the other half did say she saw one, but I didn't. I avoided a cache to avoid upsetting ka...
