Re: Happy B'day GCA (online event)

Something to think about - there is one big date coming up in 5 weeks that a lot of people wanted to have events on...
We here at GCA/GA can show the world we can still celebrate the day with other geocachers and get a :D for it.

Re: Happy B'day GCA (online event)

It was great to see so many people getting involved in all the virtual events today. Looks like a real hit. I think a few people needed that social interaction. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun.

So who is hosting the next zoom event to help keep us all sane in this isolating time?

Re: Happy B'day GCA (online event)

WE'RE ON TONIGHT 7pm AEDT. Remember this is a chat, not me talking at you. However I will moderate it with prompts and making sure we don't all talk at once. I really need your help with the following, because I really don't know much and we all love to learn from others experience... A couple of th...

Re: Happy B'day GCA (online event)

Well I have done some research and found nothing. How do I use it. Can I use it from my desk top or Lap top or do I have to use my smart phone? I have no microphone on my desktop. Not sure about my Laptop. Hopeless with smart phone technology. Desktop, laptop, smart phone. Any of those will work. L...

I have just finished reading up on hangouts and ready for it and I have never heard of or used Zoom conferencing.
I'm so so so sorry. Zoom is actually going to be much easier.

Re: Happy B'day GCA (online event)

Does anyone use Zoom video conferencing? I think it will work much better than hangouts but will be limited to 40 minutes. I just need to test it first.

Re: 2020 Game of Games

I had a thought tonight. If we are being encouraged not to go outside and play, to keep us geocaching to a degree, we could come up with some creative "lockdown locationless" caches to do in and around our homes.

Just a thought.

YOu can do the same at GCA.
https://geocaching.com.au/caches/availa ... sort=Found
I figured that too. I just hadn't thought to sort by last found date. Such a basic thing that I've used before but I just didn't think of it.

Thank you mattyrx, Chwiliwr and caughtatwork. :)

Re: Unloved search

One way to do this on the GC website is to get a list of caches you haven't found in an area with their search filters and then sort on 'Last Found' which will sort them in date order from not found at all upwards to the latest caches found. (They call the field 'DateLastVisted' even though they sh...

Re: Happy B'day GCA (online event)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by dead. I can still go ahead with the hangout if I invite each individual in. I've used Hangouts plenty before using emails. Works well enough. But I'm definitely open for other options. I'll have a look at Webex.

Unloved search

Is there a way to search for unfound (by myself) unloved caches? I tried making a querie but the choices I'm looking for don't seem to be there.

Or maybe on another site like project gc?

If you start a conversation in hangout you get an option to share the link

Maybe test this out before the event?
That is exactly what I have tested twice, sending from my laptop to mobile phones. It failed both times.
