Re: GCA Google maps with OpenStreetMap option
Given OSMtah is no more ( link ) I thought it might be worth updating my little javascript contribution. Since I wrote the current script Open Cycle Map have confirmed their position in favour of third party use of their tiles. ( link ) Updated code snippet below should change the map option from OS...

Re: "Computer support" phone scam
I've had several customers approached, plus my father-in-law. I'm waiting for my call, gonna string em along as long as I can manage  I did that! It was fun  . I knew of the scam so started with "thank god you called the screen is flashing purple". After about a minute he said he woul...

Re: GCA Performance
So if you're a MySQL DBA, PHP developer or JavaScript wiz, the submit your CV for consideration :-) I have about 12 years experience with JavaScript if you ever feel like a hand or a second set of eyes. Unfortunately all the back-end code I have written has been from the evil empire (Microsoft) but...

Re: Google Maps - Updated?
My area has been updated too. (Hornsby Heights) Most of the fire trails have gone. Not that they were ever accurately mapped.
Looking at the copyright Google is in the list of map data providers. Maybe Google has included the map data they collected when collecting streetview?

Re: Batteries
I am a big fan of Eneloop and similar Ready-to-use rechargeables. They have smaller mAh ratings but don't self discharge in a month like standard NiMH batteries. (Old thread about Eneloops) Watch out with the mAh ratings when dealing with off brand battery makes or small suppliers (eg Ebay sellers)....

Re: Postcode Search bringing up caches 15km away!!
I wasn't able to find the license info for it so cannot say if it will cost for other than personal use. This data and most of the data on the ABS site is Creative Commons - by Attribution I think those the same datasets that were imported into http://www.openstreetmap.org for suburbs and postcodes...

Re: 2000 to 2010 = 10 years of Geocaching in Australia
We have just one cache that is in draft mode but we will make sure it is placed and publish logged this weekend.:) The wait is because like many international transactions at the moment, one item we want to place in the cache is suffering from shipping delays. "Due to the recent volcano eruption in ...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
One of my GC caches (gc100mt Tower Bridge) is being shown as disabled when it was re-enabled a couple of weeks ago. Could one of the delightful GCA admins possible change its status to enabled?
I tried importing it's GPX to kick it back into life but no luck.
Thanks!

Oz Mega Games as GCA caches?
I haven't thought this through properly but I wondered if the Oz Mega games (Megapoly, Chance and Community chest) could/should be listed as caches on GCA? The two we did felt like geocaching when we were doing them. Although they probably would not meet some websites definitions of caches. Although...

Re: GPX viewing program for windows 6.1
We use cachebox on an old win 6.1 mobile now dedicated to caching.
http://www.getcachebox.net/en/main.html
We find it great. Ours has all the caches in NSW loaded and we now use it to keep track of all our finds in the field.

Re: The Long Way Round - TB race from South Africa to Australia
Our coin moved often but never far. It has just been doing lap after lap of Germany after it's initial escape from South Africa. It is still alive and we had a nice message from the cacher holding it that they might be able to drop it in a cache in the USA for us. This is closer but not much chance ...

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere but I can't find it. What is the latest time on Friday to arrive and not miss out on any organised activities or the Friday event registration? We intend to leave early on Saturday morning from Sydney but keep seeing interesting caches we haven't done...
