Re: Cache found longest distance from coords
I found one 9.8k's out. It was for the FTF and I just went off the description and the hint. The posted GZ was in a random paddock, but the description mentioned the local swimming hole and camp ground. Mrs Browngang wanted to go straight for the campground but I had to check out and eliminate the p...

Re: What's the difference between a trig point and a survey mark
For those of you guys interested in trig points and SSM's etc. I found this cache while in the US of A recently. In a very cool town, St Augustine, America's first European settlement in Florida. http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC1MVYP_florida-geocac-benchmark-project?guid=dd9fd70b-36d3-45cc-b6fd...

Re: Discovering Lost TBs
There's a FB page dedicated to sharing TB codes (why you want to do that is anyone's guess ). I've seen one page so one could assume there are heaps of them out in FB land.

Re: C geo not logging my finds
I logged a couple from my tablet using c:geo over the holidays that weren't logged. My membership is up to date. It's happened before a few times. Logging from the c:geo app has proven very hit and miss for me.
I try to avoid it, it seemed easier at the time, but I then spent more time editing.

Re: Contacting CO's
I've contacted CO's via my smartphone and had some good results. I've been contacted and as my email is on my phone I usually respond pretty much straight away. Locally, I've logged DNF's from c:geo saying how I was there for hours and owners have contacted me straight back and said "what are you do...

Re: Reading the new(ish) Earthcache guidelines
It looks like the permission you are seeking via GC.com is not required as they (DECCW) say in the policy you don't need it.
I guess if you haven't already been talking to a reviewer, they would be the place to go.

Re: Reading the new(ish) Earthcache guidelines
At the bottom of page 5 in the DECCW (National Parks) Geocaching policy, under "Permissibility and consent requirements". Point 3- "Given that virtual caching, including EarthCaching, does not involve leaving any physical object in a Park, it does not require consent under the NPW regulation. Althou...

Gee, that's a new idea. Go on a holiday and cache while I'm there. Who'd have thought? Might try that next time I'm away.

Re: Android Geocaching Apps
Just found an interesting Android app that could be used as an additional tool for geocaching. Its called Cloudnotion. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.ubagroup.cloudnotion How'd you go with the cache bshwckr? Seems like it's outside the requirements of GC.com about not being able/r...

Go down to the seaside, midtide and press "calibrate" with the GPS at water level?

Re: Missing Caches
There's a thought.....
Publish a cache.....
Don't even go out and place a container and when no one can find anything, ask for the next person to drop one off. Armchair caching, like those people who log TB's from OS without ever even coming here.

That kind of construction would take longer than actually using a tape measure and level. It's worse than I would build for my dog. If I had one

Re: Geocaching Devices
Think GPS, not phone, for the most reliability. My Explorist 610 has been dropped, slid along the road etc, etc and still doesn't miss a beat. Once I still had it plugged into the car charger and got out of the car with it in my hand and slammed the door. The GPS went sliding down the steep road. Th...

Re: "Invisible ink" and UV torches
Could you write the WPT's on something that can't be moved? Or place them in a tunnel or under a bridge, under a park gazebo in the shade/dark. Somewhere that is in the shade and fixed in place that can't be taken into the daylight? Sounds fun, good luck with it.
