Before plugging the USB in try with the Oregon turned off , if nothing happens then turn the unit on before plugging the USB in.

Or take the batteries out for a few minutes and try again

You can make your own custom POI by writing down all the stations and then transferring it .

I didn't think Gsak can talk directly to the Colorado/Oregon recievers

Just copy and paste your .gpx file to the gpx folder in the Colorado or you can use macros and POI loader
