Re: Does anyone use Geosphere for Geocaching Australia?

Edit: The javascript from below is already part of the wiki page...

And regarding Field notes, it might be out of date as well, but I used to do this:

Re: Does anyone use Geosphere for Geocaching Australia?

Ah, gotta love case sensitivity in Wiki URLs... :) Some years ago I put this up: http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/GeoSphere and posted this: http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopic.php?p=171181#p171181 I think the app has changed a bit since, and I'm not very active with geocaching these days to ...

Re: OpenStreetMaps now useless in a lot of areas.

Bugger... I just tracked down the account of the user in question, and it appears she consciously declined the new license... http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/drlizau/diary/13560 (not sure if reading Diaries requires an OSM logon, i suspect it does though) Such a loss. I notice NearMap have already...

Re: OpenStreetMaps now useless in a lot of areas.

To be clean for the forums... "Oh Bother!" ... Not my exact thoughts though  I remembered after reading this that some time ago I did get an email re licensing. Turns out I did accept at the time, however I suspect I know someone who didn't, as the area around me has also gone to pot: http://...

Re: How are people managing pocket queries?

No worries Gordo. As for archived caches, they are notoriously hard to get a hold of. A search through these forums should show a few threads with some history of archived caches. There's no (normal) option in Pocket Queries to get at archived caches... That said, in your particular case, if you're ...

Re: How are people managing pocket queries?

For now, if you're careful, you should be able to sneak VIC into 8 queries... Not for much longer though... And that you've said 9, suggests that you haven't found/been shown this link yet: http://geocaching.com.au/stats/range/ A most excellent tool for exactly what you're trying to achieve. (Thanks...

Re: How many found in between home and your nearest unfound.

It depends... If you include trig points, then my number is 11 found in <=16.44 Km... However I don't really chase trig points (even though I have found a couple...)... So, excluding Trig points, my number is 34 found within <=43.49Km (35 if you include the 1 Trig I've found  ) An interesting ...

Re: Log books/containers on moveables?

Sounds like something somewhere between a swaggie and a "Codeword Cache (Beta)"... The idea of code words for logging caches has been kicking around for some time, I'm sure there's other older threads on them, but there is a post from C@W here that points out that GCA has the functionality to accomm...

Re: www.nearmap.com

I thought I should add this in case people haven't already seen it... My favourite use of NearMap is via GSAK. So: - Tools menu - Options - HTML Tab - In the "Custom URLs" box, add the following line: NearMap=http://www.nearmap.com/?q=@%lat,%lon&ll=%lat,%lon - OK to close Then you can right click an...

Re: Projecting waypoints on an iPhone

While in a cache or waypoint, just either double tap the coordinates, or use the top right hand corner menu and select "Edit Location". The screen this takes you to has a "projected" option. The best use of this is probably by first selecting "Add related waypoint" while in a cache, and then when ad...

G'day Richary, While back I wrote a forum post that will hopefully help: http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopic.php?p=171181#p171181 I've also posted on the Geosphere forums about GCA and fieldnotes: http://gbhometech.com/geosphere/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=339 Thanks for asking though, as it has ...
