Um, shouldn't that be "hear hear"?
No, you can't hear a posting because you are reading it. I was in fact drawing attention to my post by calling on people to look "here".

Re: GCA listings of caches in areas where geocaching is banned

In many areas now, there is very little true crown land. A lot of land is now owned by semi-government organisations that are set up as private corporations where the government is the shareholder. Eg in Qld, state road corridors are owned by Queensland Transport, forestries are owned or leased by F...

although some of these items would be prohibited if you tried to store them in a cache! :D also women for example I haven't found any large enough for that kind of swag but I can see the logs now... Re: When is a cache "buried"

Let's not go getting too precious on a few cache areas that get some foot stomping, some logs overturned or the grasses bent to find a cache, mkay? Australia is a pretty resilient place and will recover despite what man does to it. Couldn't agree more. While I don't condone wanton destruction, and ...

Re: Archived because of danger (or not)

I'm not familiar with the cache in question or the terrain in question, but unless the area is prohibited entry it shouldn't be archived. Even on the simplest of caches, accidents can happen. Sometimes they are through poor preparation, but sometimes from a moment of inattention or just bad luck. Fr...

Re: Do I Log A Find?

Unfortunately I cant look for the archived caches that were multis. Such as this one. ](*,) Cheers 8) I wonder if you dropped a friendly email to theUmp or iRiblit if they would reveal the final location? I think it's great that you have collected an abandoned and archived cache. Better than having...

Re: Movables - possible code change request

I like the idea of a "picked up" log. Another thing with moveables (and it might be too hard), would be to calculate stats based on where it was when it was found, rather than where it is now. A while back I was scratching my head as to why I had a find in South Australia when I've never been there ...

Re: Muggles that cache

I'm still amazed at how many "one-off" cachers have caches that have lasted for years. There's one with the memorable name of "geocaching.com small round tub" placed by a guy with no finds and one hide. It's still there and being found now and again. I always love how people say in their logs "Than...

Re: Archiving of Trigpoints...or Maybe Not.

I logged the trigpoint on top of the water tower at Tin Can Bay as a find. I figure that the whole water tower is part of the man-made trigpoint structure. I wouldn't think logging a mountaintop trig from the base of the mountain counts as a find, but a water tower you can walk right up to the struc...

Re: Snakes... and geocaching!

Every other story in this thread about drop bears or creatures other than snakes is crap. [-X It's what Aussies do to scare foreigners but they don't know us Canadians are smarter than your average bear. Sounds like famous last words to me. People tend to think dropbears aren't real because confirm...

Re: Snakes... and geocaching!

I've come across 2 brown snakes while caching, and once found a carpet snake curled up in a hollow I was planning to put a cache in. In the case of the two browns I spotted them from a good distance so kept my distance until they moved on. I tend to avoid off-track bush in summer time when the snake...

Re: DNF on muggled caches

I agree with others that if you didn't find it, it's a DNF. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE log your DNF's. As a cache owner the DNF's are almost as useful as the finds. It gives an indication if there is a problem with the cache (eg cache missing, possibly off coords, a better hint etc), and also gives an...
