Just to muddy the waters a bit. I read this today on the Garmin_GPSmap_76C@yahoogroups.com group posted by "annoyedone" Mapset: A group of Map Segments from one or more Map Products that is loaded into the GPS. For units that accept cards this is the gmapsupp.img file created by MapSource and...

If its the "cutty'variety then most of it is Pampas Grass, from of South America and a dammed import, not a nativ...

A couple of times I have done a run of 5 or so just to prove the point and that was before Google Earth. Mostly I needed the clue though. And I had the GPSr switched off in the bag, just in case. Nowdays, if the mapping is accurate and Google Earth Image is high res in your area it can be easy. Seve...

Cached was saying There seems to be an assumption that those who run the current website started the game - they didn't! Correct, BUT; Dave Ulmer, who did start the game, and was right there when STASH changed to, (dare I say it) CACHE. (and here I am guessing) pronounced it cash. :P see here

Here in NZ I am in the minority (about 15 to 20 % using the kash version but that is the way the septics pronounce it and it originated there after all. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/217/500119918_85d5e21f51.jpg?v=0 Anyway the point of the sign on my camper-van looses its point if you say kay...

Thanks fergho, for such a comprehensive reply. A Google search had failed to yield any info about fast charging Eneloops. Before discovering this thread I posted a message in The sci.satellite.geo news group and most replies there are in agreement although Hans Georg Michna seems a bit more relaxed ...

I have just bought a charger and 4 Eneloops From Tricky Dicky. I had to pay a bit more in NZ than they go for in Aus though (Eqiv $32Au ) . Now the girl in the shop pointed out the led at the bottom of the chargerand tried to tell me it was a smart charger but it isn't. It just switches off after 17...

On a GPSr, of all things, spurious contour lines could be interesting! In normal use with the unit switched on you do not see the "lines" They are only discernable looking obliquely across the screen and I did say "almost transparent". I did try to photograph them but I never could get the effect t...

OK I'll confess. I enjoy an getting an FTF and being retired I can often go out as soon as one pops up but grabbing one local to me is not that big a deal any more, and lately the price of fuel has curtailed my enthusiasm for the more distant ones. However, what especially adds spice is to grab an F...

For those who don't know it, Handmap's a small mapping program that'll auto-centre on a GPSr (serial or Bluetooth) and let you search for intersections and streets and such. No voice prompts, no auto-routing, but it does integrate with the addressbook and (I seem to recall) one of the GPX programs....
