The answer, my friends, is blowin' in the wind in the Knowledgebase
My process for sabbatical was:
Step 1: get tired
Step 2: decide to take a break
Step 3: Choose successors, get them OK'd, approach them, get them 'trained'
Step 4: Profit!
So, you're too late for Step 3, sorry.

Re: Missing Caches
Don't you have friends who make this trip who would be willing to maintain it for you? And if you make this trip twice a year , surely you'd be able to take care of this Geocache very easily fairly soon? I mean, I don't want to put words into your mouths, but I seem to recall you telling me somethin...

Re: Helpful Hints for Newcomers
Here's a handy hint for the geocaches is too far away from home location problem. You just tell theUmp that you have friends who live up there and are willing to look after it or Tell him that you make the trip to that place very often. I have had to use these when hiding 2 caches in the simpson de...

Just for the record, it's not only me! Ministro and i,riblit cover the most populous States.Apty wrote:I was only thinking on Saturday how big a job it must be for theUMP with so many caches being submitting each day.

Re: Two million caches
I deleted the NA log and contacted the placer telling them why. I trust Ministro will ignore it as well. I'm very tempted to do a bulk delete on these notes, especially the ones with TB numbers in them. There seem to be a lot of people who really don't get the "Go outside and find things" basis of g...

Re: Two million caches
I'm quite chuffed to've been the lucky reviewer to push the button, and even more pleased that it's a decent-sized Trad at a place worth going to, that most muggle tourists will never experience.
Yep, I bet the owners are wondering what all the fuss is about!

Re: No cache size? No hint? What the?
i,riblit did discuss the size issue and suggested "not chosen" because the description of "other" is "See the cache description." and the owner didn't want to offer any hint as to what searchers were looking for. (Personally, I prefer "Other" in these cases as it makes it clear that the owner does k...

Re: Finding seemingly archived caches
If you do manage to manage to find active caches placed on major Airport property, feel free to place a Needs Archived log on them so Ministro can check to see if there's any communication about permission hidden away. (Although I usually either ask the owner to mention it specifically or add it to ...

Re: 'Finding' Archived Caches
I must be feeling grumpy today, because I usually ignore this sort of idiocy, but it annoyed me so I've deleted the bogus log and locked the listing. If they come up with some evidence of having visited the site... I'll still leave it deleted because they admit that they never found a logbook to sign!

Re: Geocaching and private property
Stobie poles in SA are specifically out of bounds, and probably power poles elsewhere as well, since there's usually a blanket ban on interfering with power supply infrastructure. Then why have I found a few caches of power poles? - One I can remember was a fake electrical box. Probably due to a re...

Re: Geocaching and private property
As per the guidelines, I assume permission unless I have some reason to suspect that it's unlikely to've been given, implicitly or explicitly. It mostly comes down to likely consequences. If you're caught looking for a cache in an open-air shopping centre carpark, it's probably no big deal. In a mul...

Re: Let's Register more caches on GCA
I put a link to the forum on all my GC cache pages... Not sure how you get away with that. I just got one knocked back for linking to a user's GCA profile in the description I bend a little to allow links directly to the forum, but cacher pages and explicit mention or links to GCA as an alternative...

Re: Garmin Chirp
(Putting on my reviewer hat for a moment:) The beacon attribute is the only mandatory thing for a Chirp-using cache. It could be a multi (if there's something to find at the listed coords, be it the Chirp signal or something else) or a mystery (if you have to do something to get the coords of the f...

Re: For the pedants amongst us ...
I rarely suggest corrections to a cache owner's spelling or grammar, for a few reasons: - Life's too short and time too valuable for me to correct the hundred or so caches per week I review. - It might cause offence if someone's touchy about their lack of education, or their dyslexia, etc. - As a ca...

Re: How close is too close
I have a question. What should you do if you find two gc mystery caches are within 80 metres of each other. Should you tell the ump? If they were both published after about late 2006, then I wouldn't mind having a look at them, just to see if someone's been moving their GZ around a bit freely. If a...
