Re: Is geocaching dying?

I haven't been on the scene long enough to comment, other than to say, when I did a search for caches near we I live, I was really surprised there weren't many at two Sydney suburbs we were going to. I don't know if they have actually dropped off, or it has always been the case though. I am quite ke...

Re: Security Scare. I guess it had to happen.

Apparently not. They actually took it away for testing ????? What the blazes is happening to this country? Imagine what it's going to be like in another 10 years. Doesn't bear thinking about. :( Feds aren't known for their sense of fun and adventure, apparently. 8-[ So far only national parks depts ...

Re: NSW Parks

Why doesn't that surprise me? I mean, what are you allowed to do in Nat Parks in NSW? Talk about a police state ... :x And that's exactly right, I don't imagine they have the brains to work out that people like cachers do the right thing and take rubbish that isn't theirs in the first place away wi...

Re: Sinkholes

Yea, I saw that one, plus a few others. It was just the initial photo of the recent one I first saw which made me question, because it looked so perfect, especially in comparison with other sinkholes. I realise they are all cylindrical, and the way they are formed etc, but that one photo just looked...

Re: Sinkholes

That was the first photo I saw ... just looked so unnatural and perfectly shaped from that distance and angle, which is why I was interested, as I didn't really know much about them. I was only saying to my son the other day, when I commented on an ad on the tv, and he said "mum, you do realise that...

Re: Sinkholes

Sorry, I don't know how to "double" quote so to speak on this forum, so apologies for all the separate replies. Yes, I didn't realise the caves extended as far as they do, so makes sense. Just looked really strange on the initial photos. :-k If it's a cave, then it's all at the bottom of the hole.

Re: Sinkholes

Yes, I do too. Too much imagination! #-o Thanks for the pic. After doing more googling, I didn't realise they were as common as they are. What a fragile world we live in! Very disturbing. I love a good conspiracy theory. But, http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/hydrology/sinkholes/SinkholePoster.gif

Re: Sinkholes

Hmmm ... still seems very sus to me. God only knows what wierd experiments go on. Not that I know a lot about sinkholes, but the formation just looked way unnatural. I'd like to see some photos of the bottom ... where did all the rubble go? Very weird if you ask me. A 30m deep hole is a pretty crapp...

Can anyone explain to me why that huge sinkhole in Guatamala formed so cylindrically? It looks like a weapon experiment gone wrong to me ... :-#

Re: Helpful Hints for Newcomers

Brilliant! Thanks. Would never have thought of itl http://serve.mysmiley.net/happy/happy0053.gif Let's say there is a very low footbridge or boardwalk through the swap. You don't want to go off the boardwalk uinto the swamp, but your GPS is a little hesitant at where the cache is. A small mirror (li...
