Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo

I've been unable to play so far this year and am disappointed to see how few there are around Sydney currently. Is it a temporary lull, or have all of the other Sydney players found them all and they've been moved on? I'm in Concord. I've gone looking for some a few times near the North Strathfield ...

Re: EPIRB/PLB

My wife and I are thinking about getting an EPIRB/PLB for when we head out walking together or if I head out for a spot of solo caching. Although we've been talking about for a while, a snake scare in Tidbinbilla earlier this summer has prompted me to get my act together and look into the options mo...

ACT Bingo caches

Has anyone else noticed that the Bingo caches here in the ACT have been cleaned out? Tigersden collected them all on 24th and 25th and is now dropping them in Bega and Pambula, which is great for cachers down on the south coast, but is making for a boring period here in the ACT and disappointing for...

iPhone and uploading photos to GCA

I've recently switched to iPhone for work and have struggled to figure out the best way to find GCA caches on an iOS device. Geosphere does most things, but I can't work out how to upload photos to GCA for trigs, virtuals and locationless cache types so that I can log them on GCA. Is there a way of ...

Re: Trig points - a general discussion

After reading this thread, I am left confused and unsure how I can verify whether a possible trig that I've found near the Harbor Bridge in The Rocks (on Argyle St). I read somewhere that a trig could be a bolt marked with a triangle to signify that it is a trig. Is it possible that it is an old tri...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here

Thanks for your quick responses. I was getting the problem again and have just been having more of a play and it looks like its related to IE9. After the query stops working, if I open the query to update it in Firefox or on my Android phone, don't change anything, but click update, the query starts...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here

Has anyone else been having problems with their Queries? I keep getting a count of zero for any new or updated queries - which unforunately includes the one the generates GPX files for close to home. I've also tried updating/amending some of my interstate queries and they change to a count of 0 as s...

Malaysia and Singapore

I am heading over to Malaysia and Singapore for a reunion for ex-students/staff of RAAF school Penang. Since thousands of Aussies passed through the school over the years, I am wondering if there are any other cachers who might be heading over? Also, is there anyone else that has any tips for cachin...

Re: Dakota 20 - hints not in cache notes

They are there, you just need to escape back to the main or cache menu (the same screen where you can log a cache as found/DNF etc). Scroll down and you'll find a show hints button (I think you have to have selected 'go' for the cache first). I assume that the hints aren't shown on the description p...

Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?

Day 4 (16 caches so far) and I can report that the Dakota 20 is easy to use, even though the manual is next to useless. Biggest challenge is working out how to get free maps. Happy to answer any questions anyone has about the Dakota.

Re: Nearmap Images

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've installed Mobile Atlas (v1.7) and am using BaseCamp with my Dakota20. I'm trying to create a map of the inner northern suburbs of Canberra. In Mobile Atlas I have a grid zoom of 15, have mapsource:NearMapAustralia; Zoom level 13 (which it tells me is 2 tiles); Atl...
