Re: Stickers/stamps for signing logs
We have a stamp that we use where space allows. When logs get wet, a stamp may work when a pen won't. Stickers do have a role to play but, over time, they can peel off and get lost. They can create problems on log scrolls too, when the sticker gets loose in the summer heat and sticks the adjacent la...

Re: Sistema and glue
This might be worth a look: http://www.selleys.com.au/adhesives/household-adhesive/quick-fix-adhesive/plastics-glue/ Supposed to work with polypropylene and polyethylene... Not sure how strong it would be though, but should 'stick'. Anyone tried it? I now have some in the cache tool kit. It's not a...

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
There's also a GSAK macro, PlacedPQ.gsk, that will generate the date ranges for the caches in your current filter, with a customisable 'buffer' so as not to exceed 1000 per PQ.

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Well my rubber USB cover breaking off was a pain ... That happened to ours recently too. Hunted around on eBay and found a (Russian) supplier selling replacement caps. (http://stores.ebay.com.au/partsforgarmin?_trksid=p2047675.l2563) Bought one and a spare. They arrived on Monday, and fairly easy t...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Still more experimenting. I changed Setup/System/Interface from Garmin Serial to Garmin Spanner and back to Garmin Serial again, and all is now well again :D Spoke too soon. :( My best guess atm is that it will stay in Mass Storage mode only if I leave file window(s) showing the Oregon folder conte...

That seems well out of date now. MV did 428 last October, in SA I think.caughtatwork wrote:Not sure if this is still up to date:Brother Colin wrote:So what is the record for 'Most finds in a single day' in Australia? the world? now.

Re: Sistema and glue
Thanks - I have done some research and it appears specialist glues are required for the material ... Sistemas are made of polypropylene (recycling code 5) and, yes, polypropylene does need a specialist glue. I've used Locktite 401 after first using Locktite 770 Activator on the plastic, and the com...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
I've done some more investigating. The 3.5 update changed some settings that I don't remember being changed by previous updates. The screen switching off with the backlight is the result of the Setup/Display/Battery Save setting being ON. My Track manager issue was the result of the Setup/Tracks/Adv...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
I've noticed a couple of different (and a bit annoying) behaviours since updating the firmware to ver 3.5. First, the unit only stays in Mass Storage Mode for a minute or two when I connect it to my notebook, then it changes back to normal operation. Second, the Setup/Display/Backlight Timeout setti...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Don't like: It's too responsive, but just have to use lockscreen a bit more often You can have 50,000 caches loaded in, but it will only search through the "available list" which is those within about 185km (although they say 100 miles). For the screen response, you could try Setup/Accessibility/To...
