Re: Groundspeak "listing-service exclusivity on Mega-Events"
GC cannot control what is said on forums around the world, and many forums discussing caches exist outside their control. GC cannot and will not be able to police this site anyway, their whole TOS is irrelevant to what happens here. Yes, but they can ban you or remove your listing if you breach the...

Re: Java Geocaching programs for mobiles
Yes, but I didn't want to send people to http://www.trekbuddy.net, where "we serve you until the ordered car reach the board!" The forums at trekbuddy.net are were a wealth of knowledge, in particular on choosing the right skin for your device, without which trekbuddy is kinda useless. Here's hoping...

Re: Java Geocaching programs for mobiles
Well I was going to recommend trekbuddy but their website seems to have been hacked and is currently hosting a car import service! 8-[ It's a pretty good program with offline maps, arrow-following and even paperless caching support. Unfortunately it is super configurable which means that the default...

Re: Full Logs
<rant> Why do people believe that their log is so important it should have a whole page to itself, even on "full sized" notebooks ? Also, why do people never use the reverse side of pages ? </rant> Ah...that's better.... =D> =D> =D> And not write only initials in nanos... Off-Topic: We've already h...

Re: enhancement goto cache & log button
Whenever I want to go directly to a GA or TP page I just stick the code in the URL with the handy little redirector latlon.info.
eg: http://latlon.info/GA4267
Easy!

Re: Improving Moveable Caches
There are essentially two possibilities for any log type. If the log has co-ords, it's moved. If it doesn't ... read the logs to see what the status is. Could we extend this a little on the GCA site? At the moment there's no way to distinguish between a "Found" and a "Found with coords" log from th...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Have the public tags recently been spammed, or has "000 from cover a couple of pounds 4 weeks seems good" always been a public tag? I like this one: "but this isn t always the outcome as countless designer shoes or boots and boots are generally manufactured for the shopping department stores on a pr...

Re: Even More Toolbox
So if you can't do projecting using magnetic north, the meters per degree of latitude would be a neat lookup for the toolbox. Tough luck for the toolbox then. WGS84 has moved a lot since 1984 (continental drift) and so had the magnetic poles. Any number you use will be an approximation. Over short ...

Re: Even More Toolbox
Something else to note: Direction is TRUE North only. I know True North is the default but at least two caches in SA require you to project using magnetic north. IANAGE (I Am Not A Geospatial Expert) so I did my projection by hand by working out how many meters there were in one degree of latitude ...

We just need a couple more versus and we might be ready to kick this thing off. How's this for an SA/NT verse? I've been to Tarlee, Marree, Waikerie, Yongala, Coobowie, Terowie, Nangwarry, Barmera, Woomera, Virginia, Wudinna, Kyancutta Alice Springs, Spalding, Iron Knob, Curramulka Pine Creek, Leig...

Re: GCA Rewards Restructure
When you hit 100 GCA finds you get a 100 finds icon in the forum, against your profile and you get a 100 finds pathtag. When you hit 500 GCA finds, you get a 500 finds icon in the forum (replacing your 100 icon), against your profile and you get a 500 finds pathtag. When you hit 1000 GCA finds, you...

Re: The Future of Caching?
So have there been any instances of these challenge caches being found and logged without the challenge having been completed? What happens then?

They've kept ALRs for challenge caches. Are there any challenge caches active in Australia?

I hope you don't mind all the OT questions. When I see something as complex and beautiful as GCA I just have to ask "How on earth did this get here? How does it work? Why does it work?" I hope the info in this thread is of some help to others if you and CraigRat ever get hit by a winnebago while das...

Re: GCA Performance
Sweet! So the way I read that is we have enough funds to hosting and server upgrades for at least 24 months. Great stuff. Where did the Tassie money come from? None of your damn business Oh, hangon, actually it IS your business. Speaking of which, is GCA a business? Or an association? Or for tax pur...
