Re: Have we hit mainstream?
I guess you would pick up on the word geocaching if you heard it on the TV, other than that - my brain tends to shut itself off when it hears the Harvey Norman announcer, the jingle, or Gerry Harvey whinging about stuff to get attention.

Re: overseas PQs
Hey colleda, there was an email address thing in the past but it may be different nowadays. Looks like you figured that part out so no problems there. Extract the .img file from the .zip. Then (assuming you run windows and that plugging in your etrex creates a new drive on your My Computer) open sai...

Re: overseas PQs
You can use this site to generate OSM maps. http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl It's a very simple process, you can select the country you'd like for your map file, and if that's not enough you can customise it, by selecting or deselecting the map areas that make it into your map file. After that, you en...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
On a more serious note, is the data that you use to create the pretty dots of green, yellow and white publically available? As a big list of cache types+coordinates with minimal formatting? Or possibly a big GPX? That way I could write my own script to lay the pretty dots out on one layer, and then ...

Hi GCA admins, this is related to the picture I can generate: http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/danozz/ ... .png?r=vic
Are you able to zoom in a bit closer to Victoria? Or do you like it to be so far zoomed out.

Re: Cachers who refuses to sign the log book
I think you should go easy on him, he's found the cache and isn't trying to claim finds in places that would be impossible to visit. He's done the main part of geocaching which is finding the container, I don't think it's worth worrying about people writing in the logbook, logging the find online, e...

Re: Helpful Hints for Newcomers
I think your problem revolves around google maps trying to assist you with your search. Google maps will try to find the nearest business/residence/park etc. To your coords, and drop the pin there. Have a play around by entering "a@s37 12.345 e143 56.789" and see if you can spot what google maps is ...
