Re: Not logging DNFs
Ever since I had a GPS that allowed "logging" (Colorado, Oregon) I've logged about every DNF. Except for holidays where time is more valuable I try to log DNFs every time I didn't find the cache or got stuck on a WP. So far I logged 175 DNFs, 74 of them were later found because of an extra hint or b...

Re: Wiki Ideas
Would there be interest in info about GDAK? It's a (simple) equivalent of GSAK for Android and can work with GSAK databases. No info on how it works "in the field" with GCA caches but I'll find that out in 2 months time \:D/ One of you Aussies will have to check the text though as I'm not a native s...

Re: GCA Android App - GA Cacher
OK, thanks for the very fast reply.
I guess I'll stick to GDAK then. That way I can import my GSAK database and work 100% offline. Maybe I'll just use the GCA app for logging (caching will be done with the Oregon 600 anyway).

Re: GCA Android App - GA Cacher
Just installed the app to see if it would benefit me on our upcoming (still some weeks to go) holiday in TAS and VIC. Some questions: I can import 200 caches from the map center but moving the map and importing 200 from there seems to make the previous 200 disappear. Can I load all TAS GCA caches or...

Re: GCA Puzzle Caches
You can always select the cache description and rightclick (when using Firefox, but probably other browsers too) and select "view selection source". That way you don't have to look for the start of the relevant code. When using an add-on like Firebug (firefox again), you can "inspect with firebug". ...

Re: Geocaching story on 7.30 last night
I was introduced to the game by someone who pronounces it cash, but I pronounce it kaysh. This was way before I even knew of the Geocaching Australia website, so something inside me told me to pronounce it the way I do. The Australian pronunciation in kaysh, but no idea why it's different from the ...

I put the Kate's Hen House on my list (if we find the time when we are in Launceston). To bad about the spoiler being shown. It's a D1 now

Re: eTrex not talking to Windows
Some USB<>serial convertors are not 100% compliant. I have two of them for radio equipment and one works with both serial devices, the other only with one. I would have to look it up but it has to do with the chipset that's used. Some chipsets won't work with any radio's serial port. It may be the s...

Re: We're baaaaack. TAS, VIC
If you head south on the A10 grab the caches at Hellyer Gorge, if you use the B18 stop at Ridgley and do http://coord.info/GCRCX1 a few people including me spotted Platypuses while doing the cache. OK, selected but we'll be on the A10. Time depending we might make this detour as wildlife is one of ...

Tasmania has 3 types of endemic snakes, but don't worry, you don't need to bother with understanding which ones are venomous or not...they are all venomous :D Nice. Keeps us from looking them up when we see them :D No crocodiles or anything down here. Saw enough of them in QLD 2003, none in the wil...

Re: We're baaaaack. TAS, VIC
Still going through the list of caches to select places we'll visit and where we'll have a chance of spending time to go find a cache I notice a lot of "dangerous animals" attributes and several listings mention "watch out for snakes". I love animals but I hate being bitten  so what are the ch...

Re: We're baaaaack. TAS, VIC
Hi Sue, I already had all these selected except Goat Island. It does seem "challenging" depending the tide. From the ferry we'll get to Stanly where we already have an afternoon excursion. We were thinking of an event ourselves but we will need to find out where to do it. At least it must be somewhe...

Re: Is this typical Aussie style?
... The only mysteries that are at the posted coordinates here are challenge caches where it clearly stated that "the cache is posted coordinates" ... This is not always 100% true as some non-challenge mystery caches are at the posted coordinates but perhaps I'm saying too much. :-$ Whoops, probabl...

Is this typical Aussie style?
G'day all, while looking for "worthy" caches I came accross a few "strange" listings. While listed as "Mystery" caches It looked like the container IS at the posted coordinates but it doesn't say so in the cache description. There are puzzles to be solved (code for opening the container, using water...
