I have all the waypoints and even the hide built for mine around Maitland, but I start, and loose interest pretty quick.

have you tried 'Igeoknife'?
it handles your gpx pocket queries and opens them from your email.
you can use it for navigating and logs too!
it is quite good for caching with the ipad.

But no. I can't store GPX files and move them to my gps from my iPad. I need to plan my trip well and have the files on my GPS or store the info on the Idevice and program the gps with co-ordinates.

There is a good iPad app called igeoknife that opens *.gpx files and can also be set up to update with your whole GSAK database file upon sync.

I have seen bags compacted into little packets to fit into ladies purses, for when they forget to take the shopping bag/s down to the grocer. Kinda like this http://www.chicobag.com/category/micro . I have a little app called 'map tools' (iphone) that can work this out when hiding.
When finding, I use the 'project waypoint' function on my garmin.
