The other problem you my run into with a PDA as a USBhost device is that it may need a powered USB hub to run the USB device. ie. the PDA can't supply the necessary power to a slave device over the USB cable, so the USB device has to be self powered, or powered by external means. My Toshiba E800 has...

Mapsend Litev2, and Meridian DAST topo update!
Mapsend Lite v2 was incompatible with the Meridian version of DAST topo :x So I emailed NextDestination, for a fix/update or whatever... and they told me to send back my topo card, for them to fix! :) It took a couple of tries (for them to fix), but I got it back during the week, and :D :D I can now...

At the price you can get the UBD disc for, and the level of details and convenience, you can't go past it! Of course it does all major cities as well, so an added bonus. Definitely the easier option, if you can't be bothered to download "a billion" and check they are the corret areas...etc! The UBD...

G'day littlejohnny, If you want streetdirectory maps that work with OziCE on a PPC, come over to http://www.gpsaustralia.net/ and look for Jackaroo4WD's program, called OziMapGrabber. It'll retrieve streedirectory maps for use on a PPC, and reference them for use with OziCE. It's all easy stuff to u...

Re: Map goes blank at certain zoom levels
..... and in this instance I've got a CFS firemap loaded from a SD card. ..... When I travel over a certain point (south of a line), the map goes blank at zoom levels 25% & 40% (which is what I mainly use). Moving map still works and it continues to track, but no map. Zoom out to 10%, or in to 60% ...

I emailed Nextdestination the other day and they responded in quick time, about the fact that you can't view the DAST topo mapping if you own a Meridian (on Mapsend Lite). It only supports explorist imi file types, but Nextdestination reckon they are working on the issue and may have a solution soon...

...... Can't you just copy everything on the SD card into its own file, before you modify it and that way if it doesn't work out then you can just re copy the old files back onto the card? Already done! Saved all images to the hdd...just in case  Theory would predict that the images files wil...

I'm almost nearly, very sure, that the basemap doesn't display at zoom level 'x' or 'y' as such! It's more like..... each layer (0-10 in the topo maps) does or doesn't display at zoom level 'x' or 'y'. It's built into the map compilation, and described in a file called map00.ini Therefore the basema...

Hi again! I just played with some settings (on my Meridian!!) If I set the map detail to Highest, then the bay (Port Phillip) becomes white at zoom 5km and 10 km, and the map info says "Cursor". If I set the map detail to anything less than "Highest", at zoom 10km I see BLUE! bay water and the posit...

I did read a post in the groundspeak forums, where someone tried to change the screen rate setting you speak of (we don't get that hidden code in the Meridian). I think it locked up his unit??? I wouldn't play with that setting, until more info is revealed on how to use it properly! Even the fabled ...
