Re: Cache contents
Maybe my wide-eyed rose-coloured view of geocaches has changed over the two years I've been at it but my feeling is that swag has degenerated over the past couple of years. It's disappointing to me. I may not want to swap anything but at least I'm interested to see what's in a cache if just for curi...

Re: Left Handed Geocachers
Maybe you should reframe the poll.apparently 13% of people are left everything, rather than these freaks that are a bit of both.[:P] I don't think learned ambidexterity counts. I'd like to know what percentage of people are naturally ambidextrous. I'm one of the 13% I think maybe (and not accountin...

Re: Left Handed Geocachers
Here is an interesting test which helps determine whether you are left handed or not: http://lefthanded.cdf-design.com/test/html_test.php Cheers! Rob. Interesting thing on this site is that they say left handed people prefer to have the gear stick on there left in the car. Does that mean Australia ...

Re: Left Handed Geocachers
Some further research reveals that most countries used to drive on the left side because right handed horseman preferred to travel on the left so they could greet oncoming riders with there right hand. And slowly countries have changed to right side driving since. Maybe left hand drive (American) c...

Left Handed Geocachers
I read that lefthanders are over represented in those professions that use spacial ability - such as architects and in the past, navigators. (As an aside 25% of the Apollo astronauts were left-handed, and I don't know what it means but 4 out of the 5 members of the design team on the first Mac were ...

Re: OSM Maps onto a GPSMAP62s
4 Y ii only Hi. I'm guessing you're after the OSM maps for Victoria. (For OSM Australia maps, and Garmin GPSmap62S) If you haven't done so already, download the Victoria maps to your Desktop or whatever. Unzip the resulting VIC_route.img zip folder (and store the unzipped folder somewhere safe). Op...

Re: OSM Maps onto a GPSMAP62s
That's great...I found them. But how do I actually get them on the Garmin GPSMAP?

OSM Maps onto a GPSMAP62s
OK. I know that probably this has been answered 100 times before BUT I can't find a concise answer (that I can understand!) after quite a bit of websearching. How do I put custom maps onto the GPSMAP62s? I need a 101 guide to this. Initially all I'd like is a better Victorian Map than the generic on...

Re: When is a cache "buried"
Upon reading the replies I'm beginning to wonder if my original thought that the cache I mentioned breached the code wasn't due to my being peeved that I couldn't find it. After all, I don't see any problem with those poles in the middle of the bush that pprass mentioned - however, those poles don't...

When is a cache "buried"
I've been thinking of this for some time now but I thought I'd hold my thoughts because I didn't want to sound too peevish. About a year ago now I logged a DNF on a FTF hunt. Subsequently when I found the cache I felt that it was buried (no doubt that contributred to the DNF) - but I don't believe a...

Re: iPhone Groundspeak App - latest problem
I'm not sure why but sometimes the Geocaching app opens and other times it doesn't.
Maybe it's something to do with what page in the Geocaching app your were in when you closed it last. Try making sure you are on the opening page (ie Search for Geocaches) and see if that works.

OK....so I guess it's largely internal consisitency - what you think is difficult or easier. Ultimately what is easy to one is difficult to another and vice versa.

Rating Puzzle/Mystery Caches
This kind of picks up on one of the other threads - what we love and hate about caching. A comment was made about bad ratings. i.e. something rated far to high or far too low in difficulty (is a hate) I have difficulty in knowing just how to rate the difficultly of puzzles. To one person the answer ...

Re: Geosphere
I think it's an iPhone thing. I use the Groundspeak Geocaching app which is very good to get me in the general area of the cache but then use an etrex to get me the rest of the way. The Iphone seems to struggle in updating its coordinates. I have a 3Gs iPhone - but the lag and accuracy seems to be e...

Re: Glossary (CSI)
Ah, thanks caughtatwork. I thought that might be the case. I guess that I thought a nano to point to another cache (multicache) would create the dual satisfaction of not only going to a first waypoint to pick up clues for the final co-ords on a multi (at an interestingly named location), but also pr...
