Re: Unloved - What is your total

I reckon my cache GA3448 "Double Winnie" is by now one of Victoria's most unloved caches. :( Published 10th October 2011, last find log 26th December 2011. It's easily accessible. There are plenty of GC caches regularly logged within walking distance of it and in the general area 160 km east of Melb...

Re: GPS on a budget

The current Rays Outdoors catalogue has a number of GPSr on special, including the eTrex 10 for $99. I use an older Garmin bought off ebay. I also use my smartphone in conjunction with it, but battery use can be severe if one is not careful.

I attended the Meet and Greet Traralgon Event Cache yesterday as part of the Great Victorian Bike Ride 2012. It was quite surprising to see and learn of others actively using a 10 inch :D tablet for geocaching.

Re: Android Upgrade

I have the same phone (from Optus|) and accept that it can never go beyond 2.1. However it was free (a clearance model) and it's still an excellent phone until I upgrade down the track. I never ever purchased the Groundspeak app - instead went for NeonGeo which still works perfectly. Costs about $5 ...

Re: What geo software is available for Macs?

I'm on an old Powerbook running Leopard 10.5.8.

For the past few years I've been using GeoJournal and MacCaching - both use a database system lke GSAK. Neither piece of software is actively supported anymore, but they work well with importing PQ's to my old Garmin eTrexes.

Re: Your area for the next event?? Think you know a great spot..

Hi all, So if you know you're area well and think there's a place worth us checking out please send me info or links so we can have a look. Thanks James Hazelwood Pondage is not far from where I live. Could be worth checking out by phoning the pet-friendly Caravan Park. Artificial beach, water warm...

Re: Send pesky a Postcard turns 6!

Hi Pesky - thanks for the timely reminder! Bought a card of the town here quite a while ago, but due to some sort of brain fade never got around to doing the clues and posting it  . Anyway, it’s now on its way. My card shows a fishing scene at Lake Hyland, one of the attractions of this small...

Not receiving notifications for topic subscriptions

Not sure if this is the right place for this topic - moderators please move it if better placed elsewhere. I'm currently subscribed to a topic under Chit Chat, but I'm not receiving email notifications for all the new replies. Sometimes I get one, then a few days go by than another, but not all. For...

Re: BIG Little Geocaching Event

Price of a campsite is a bit of a pain for me, i imagine i will not take up the space of 8 people!! ;) So it may be a bit cheaper for me to stay at the other place (I know it's just 6 bucks difference..but it adds up i guess) As a one-person team, I'd feel a bit “guilty” totally taking up a large s...

Re: BIG Little Geocaching Event

Hmmm…..no pets……no alcohol……..not a long weekend……. I’d love to attend, but can’t make a decision yet. What really peeves me are the camping fees – I think $22 per night for an UNpowered sight is a bit rich. Are the showers included or extra? The nearby River Vu caravan park at $16 is a bargain by c...

Re: Cachers who refuses to sign the log book

..... the one thing that is seriously not cool is claiming a find that you didn't make. I've even informed on people because I couldn't see the name of the last finder in the book. I became aware of a cache recently where this occurred (log book not signed). The online log claiming a find was delet...

Re: GCA in same area as GC?

Of course, if it's the same thing that's already had a cache dedicated to it, then it's pointless to do it again. As far as close proximity to existing caches, I see two issues. One is the confusion between boxes, of course. The other is that how different can the experience of finding your cache b...

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

An old thread, but worth a bump. This thread (and another similar one) made extremely interesting reading for me. I only own a few caches, but I notice some of the recent logs are extremely brief - e.g.: "Found and logged", "Found it", and "Log to follow" (has never happened). As others have already...

Re: Daily cache update - 2 States concurrent?

blossom* - My Vic cache update is set up via My Profile Settings>daily email>homestate. It is not a Query I have set up. It is just an update I like to get every day, and this works fantastic in conjunction with my GC.com PQ’s. I also use the Android GCA app. So, I’m not needing or wanting Queries ...

Re: Daily cache update - 2 States concurrent?

I assume you're not happy with the idea of receiving 2 separate updates each day ie one per state? I'd be very happy to receive 2 separate cache updates each day from Vic and Tasmania via my gmail account on my smartphone if (1) that is achievable, and if (2) someone can tell me how to set it up. T...
