Re: What to use for a logbook for a waterbottle cache container?

This is what I'd do: - Cut a piece of thin timber dowel to the same height as the bottle (without lid) - Stick the logsheet to the dowel and roll it up like a scroll - Secure with a little rubber band - Pop that in the bottle for easy retrieval You're not going to get many swaps in that container an...

Lo and behold that's what the new update lets you do. Good improvement.

Re: Pokemon Go

Noticed a funny thing today. Was at a Level 3 gym, and planning on doing a bit of training, as it was a fellow Insight gym and I was hoping to squeeze my Flareon into the fourth available space. Soon realised, after many rounds of battling and a yet dropping prestige, that someone else was battling ...

Re: Pokemon Go

The word on The Silph Road is that they come from Pidgey, Rattata, Magikarp and Zubat with others unconfirmed. I'm down to Ultraballs and have caught about 100 of the above without a Ditto... So in other words it's a cunning plan to get us to catch all the low CP crap that we've started ignoring?? ...

Re: Car or bicycle rally

Melbourne folks run one: https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5 ... shine-2015

I attended the 2015 one - Good fun. Didn't make it too competitive but was a nice day around the hills with the family, bumping into people, etc. Well worth it.

Re: Pokemon Go

GC are saying they are having a record amount of signups, but as we have seen statistically, signups does not equal more active players. I don't believe for a second that this is the case. The only reason their opinion gets asked if because journalists will go from "Hold on, didn't we already have ...

Re: Pokemon Go

https://www.facebook.com/guardiandefence/posts/10210228077041643 Interesting video above - Not that I'm one to live in paranoid fear, but it's certainly an issue I wouldn't have been too worried about with geocaching - given its relative obscurity - which with Pokemon Go's massive popularity and awa...

Re: Places with great cache density

I hesitate putting the words 'great' and 'cache density' in the same sentence  but seriously, almost every major Western capital city will give you pretty full-on cache density these days. The bigger the population, the moreso. Add in a tourist destination (eg. London, Paris, etc) and you'll r...

Re: Pokemon Go

I must admit, after years of living with subversive nature of GPS-gaming, and the community feel it created, it's quite unbelievable to be walking around the city again today and just spotting damn near everybody using the app. It's just plain nuts. Seeing middle-aged women stop in the street and sw...

I'm not looking forward to the inevitable upcoming conversation along the lines of:

"Oh, so that's geocaching is it? Sounds like a variation on Pokemon go...." :stabby

Looks like it's taking off bigtime; "Despite only being available in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the US, Pokémon Go has gained so much popularity it will soon boast more daily users than Twitter." http://www.news.com.au/technology/home-entertainment/gaming/pokmon-go-is-already-responsible-for...

Re: Pokemon Go

The more I look into it and play with it help my kids get used to it, it definitely rewards 'getting out there'. You can really only level up your Pokemon if you go out and find more - which involves walking (unless you've got a rooted/jailbroken phone and the know-how). And some 'eggs' require walk...

Re: Pokemon Go

Really saw the value when I saw my (traditionally lazy) younger nephew on social media talking about it and saying "Guess I'm going to be going out a lot more" and then his mum coming online this morning saying "What's this Pokemon Go? Is that why you took the dog for a walk??!" It is good in ...
