Re: Open Caching
snip If you think Groundspeak are anything more than a revenue generating machine off the works of others then you, my dear friend, are seriously wrong. The Free and Open way of geocaching has well and truly got traction brother, and you’ll be the one missing out. more snip I don't really care for ...

GSAK slow to process imports
A quick query regarding GSAK which I'm hoping someone can resolve. Maybe a wrong setting or something. Our GSAK is set up like many peoples to interrogate a dedicated gmail account which has pocket queries of the entire state, sent weekly. It's been working pretty well, but we're noticing that it se...

Re: Launching Australia's "OZ MEGA ADVENTURE"
Well done for obviously a lot of background work and planning/plotting  - but we probably won't be attending. Easter is a time we usually stick close to base, often to avoid the holiday roads, as well as our usual church commitments and the whole Easter weekend is a bit too much of a commitmen...

Re: One find every 56 seconds....
Hey, we can use this to our advantage.... Go to #1. Sign. Leave. Then other cachers will move your log for you so you can claim a visit on the entire powertrail without the effort (After all, sooner or later your name will be in the log of every cachein the trail) So iamapom, congrats on y...

Re: One find every 56 seconds....
So i assume each team then has to turn around and put the last cache back in the spot they started?? And hope that nobody visited that one in that time?? (Assume a lot of DNFs on cache #1) What a strange approach - Clever re time saving, but I can't help feel it's bending the rules a bit too much......

Re: Open Caching
Playing around with uploading mine just for chuckles - but am unsure about how it'll go long-term. I can see sense for an open site if its a local community with fairly strong connections - and GCA is a great example of that. The peer support (and correction!) keeps it ticking along nicely. But I do...

Re: What's your opinion of this particular GPS unit
I use that one too, and have since we started geocaching.... As others have said, it does the basic things very well, and is pretty tough and robust into the bargain. I really do miss mapping abilities on mine, but if you're running it in conjunction with an iphone then that's less of a problem. It ...

Who's our resident EMR expert?
Odd question - but as part of a cache I'm trying to put together I need some expertise around electro-magnetic fields/radiation.... anyone got a bit more than google-knowledge about it? If you do, PM me (Can't let the cache ideas become public knowledge before it's released! )

Re: FTF acknowledgements in listings
I am still a paper cacher, and what bugs me is I can't see any way to remove lengthy descriptions and meaningless photos that are embedded in the descriptions, when I do a printout. Is there a way to remove them? Or am I doomed to pages of (to me) useless field notes? If you're printing from the 'p...

Re: Why do we put caches out there
I'd agree with all of those above comments - Location, surprises and so on... Sharing what we've discovered with others, and hiding what you like to find - either in cache terms or location I think for me it's also about trying to do something a bit new and interesting. That little chuckle I get whe...

Hi, and welcome! All the information you need on how to hide are here: http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Hiding_a_cache Having said that (and assuming that you're new to the game - correct me if you're not) it's also a really good idea to go out and do plenty of caches of different types and in dif...
