Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?
I have recently purchased an Oregon 600 to replace the 550 (long story). Last weekend I used it in "anger" for the first time and I could not be happier with the unit. The screen can be veiwed in nearly all light conditions, including bright sun light. The configurable buttons on the side make jumpi...

Re: Need new GPS
It is very much a personnel choice, I have a Dakota 20, but recently upgraded to an Oregon 550, which had an accident so it is now being replaced with an Orgeon 600 (http://www.prestigecom.net.au/Garmin-Oregon-600-Handheld-GPS) good price, comparable with Amazon in the US, and a local company.....sh...

Re: Gnome Gnation
Strongly suggest caution so as not to offend the Gnomes in Gnomesville here in WA(http://stumbledownunder.com/2012/07/20/gnomeville), should a battle erupt between these Gnome nations, who could guess the results

Re: Dakota strange behaviour
I have had similar issues with My Dakota 20, particularly when I get close to the maximum number of caches. Not sure if the reason is that child waypoints may take you over the limit, but I have found that if you keep the Number of caches below 1500 the problem does not seem to appear. Also, as stat...

Re: How many found in between home and your nearest unfound.
Having a play/cleanup in GSAK and thought I would check out this stat. Nearest unfound is 6.6Km away, excluding movables in this area, I have found 73 caches.
This give an area of approx 140 sq Km, and a density of 0.521 Caches per sq Km

Re: Caching games this year?
We see enough real snakes in the bush in WA, not sure I would want to do a hunt for a rubber snake, and it is not the wind I am worried about.gmj3191 wrote:Rubber snakes, now that would put the wind up the community ....

Re: Caching games this year?
If it is finding caches to spell words, will it be the Engish spelling of farm, F-A-R-M, or Old McDonald's Spelling farm, E-I-E-I-O ???

Re: Dakota 20 Trouble
Hi. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Garmin 12. :!: Newer models make (caching) life easier though, with so many bells and whistles and extra user-friendly 'stuff'. Cheers. :) I agree, the unit is extremely accurate - just takes longer to load and I'm lazy so it wouldn't suit me :D :D :D \...

Finds by Placed Date
I want to fill the 9 final spots on my Finds by place date grid. Can someone provide me with a clue as to how to search for cache placed dates ignoring years, ie DD/MM. Or do I have to search for each date 12 times
Thanks in advance

I like the idea. Maybe to share the costs, if the artwork for the stickers was made available on the website, we could make our own for placement around the country.

Re: Your hiding style
 For me it varies, I like bringing people to interesting or scenic places, but then sometimes, it amuses me to place a cache in a spot no one would go if not for the cache. That said, the physical cache is dependent of the location, and the intended difficulty or perhaps just what is to hand ...
