Photobucket now (since July) charging for 3rd party hosting
I only discovered this when someone was trying to solve a puzzle of mine which relied on an image hosted by Photobucket. Somewhere a few months ago they decided to charge a ridiculously high fee for third party hosting. I never got an email. So a few of my caches are looking a bit off with this imag...

Re: New phones to have 30cm GPS accuracy in 2018
Thanks for the info. How will it be when phones have better accuracy than a dedicated GPS? I imagine that newer, better, faster GPS models will come out though. Still 30 cm accuracy would take out a lot of the fun of the game. That's not to say that accuracy will actually be achievable in a lot of s...

New phones to have 30cm GPS accuracy in 2018
I thought accuracy was a function of the signal sent by the satellites? Is that being changed? This article doesn't say much. But there's a link within it that may say more, haven't read it yet. http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/09/25/new-gps-chips-2018-smartphones-will-help-avoid-10-mile-detour-mis...

Re: Pokemon Go
Interesting discussion on Reddit (Silph Road): Rural players always complain about a lack of stops and gyms. Someone has proposed assigning more using geocache coordinates! https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/5zqt5s/urbanrural_balance_use_geocaching_locations/ (url tags don't seem to work...

Re: Pokemon Go
Yes the babies are old news. Had them all but Cleffa since about the first week of January. Get nothing but 5km eggs (like 50 in a row) so no chance of hatching anything interesting. Am convinced Porygon doesn't hatch from 5km eggs. Have caught two in the wild though.

Re: Pokemon Go
Bored to death with it now. Gone back to geocaching. Well I'd do more cacing but it's been too hot. Anyway until Gen 2 comes along I'll be doing very little. Reached level 32, complete Pokedex (except for Cleffa - only ever get 5km eggs so almost zero chance of getting it), gym fighting is dull. As ...

Re: Ammo can thief - a geocacher?
Was that the one out the back of the rifle range? No one would ever find that without the coords! Same general area as mine. Hmmm. Makes me want to go and check on my other ammo cans but I'm afraid of what I will (won't) find.

Re: Pokemon Go
Welcome aboard! Any questions you have I'm sure will be answered by the geocachers on this board. Very friendly bunch. Look out for any local events too - a great chance to meet in person and get some assistance if needed. I was never much interested in gym fighting but since completing the Pokedex ...

Re: Pokemon Go
Yes it's live now. All the talk is that from 12/12 either there will be new Pokemon or there'll be an announcement about new Pokemon. A lot of fluff about Starbucks in the US all becoming stops and gyms (who cares here?) but if it's Gen 2 then that's exciting. There's not much to do when you've fill...

Re: Pokemon Go
Yes it made me look for the common rubbish and ignore most other creatures. Finally it paid off last night with a Ditto from a Pidgey. When you see 'Oh' instead of Gotcha it's pretty exciting the first time. I'm not that keen on the tracker. It seems to indicate Pokemon that are a long way off but n...

I discovered later that Big Matt&Shell turned up the same day as I did at that same Californian cache! What are the chances?

Re: Pokemon Go
The word on The Silph Road is that they come from Pidgey, Rattata, Magikarp and Zubat with others unconfirmed. I'm down to Ultraballs and have caught about 100 of the above without a Ditto...
