Re: NZ Attendees...global roaming
Just need to be a bit careful about frequencies and phone capability. Vodafone NZ uses 900MHz in the regional areas, which is the same frequency as Optus and Vodafone in Australia Telecom NZ uses 850Mhz, same as Telstra in Australia. If your phone doesn't have the capability for the frequency of the...

My old 60CS does that. I just push it back on and continue on my shonky way.

Re: NZ MEGA 2012 - an update
Some not so shonky logic when booking an airfare from Australia to NZ for the mega-event... It may work out cheaper to book two one-way air tickets rather than a return ticket. The journey back to Australia will be calculated and paid in NZD, at current exchange rates this may be cheaper than the co...

Kaching App? (OT)
CBA have launched a 'kaching' app ... not for finding plastic boxes but for making contactless payments with your smart phone.

It's going to be konfusing when we talk about kaching apps...

They are both in the USA. And I believe there was at least one powertrail traversed by a small group of SA cachers....

look who is #1 now...
Somebody needs to quietly mention to Liz and Bruce that... ... It's not about the numbers
But they have just taken over Maccas to claim first rank for the number of finds for Australian cachers.
Well done guys... you're not obsessed a little bit are you???

Re: Development time / cost for your website
Well done guys, we really appreciate the work you put in to the site. :D I was involved in a labour of love project some years ago (shonkymaps). It becomes an obsession. I never expect any payment, but a simple note of thanks or a bottle of red from a stranger (received last weekend at the SA event)...

Re: Garmin Montana
It says 'daylight readable' display. I wonder how true that is. I think they said that about the Oregon too, which turned out to be 'marketing speak'. I would be interested to know if there has been any improvement - is the Montana as readable and clear in daylight as ... say the 60Cx?

Re: "Computer support" phone scam
this is almost as funny as going to a dodgy site and receiving a "your computer has a virus" message, followed by a windows control panel lookalike screen... The scam isn't very convincing when I'm using Linux! You would think they would put something in their script to detect the OS before they pop...

Re: Beat speeding fines with GPS
Must be a Subaru thing, the speedo in my Subuaru Outback also reads 10% more than the actual speed. I just thought it was shonky. I unwittingly tend to compensate for the 10% by driving on the highway with the needle sitting just under 120, which is really about 108kmh. I just need to remember not t...

I know it's close to the Riverina, but Albury / Wodonga or Shepparton would still be fairly central and accessible for a majority of people
