Re: Leaving cash good or bad ??

I have left cash a few times. I left AU$100 in one of my (and now only) caches doing maintenance, though it was Australia's oldest unfound for a few years. Next month someone came along and grabbed it (though I think they had planned the find before I left the cash). I wish them well, good on them. ...

Re: 1817 Days all alone

Hi NotHisRealName. It is a great part of the country, and rarely visited too. I would suspect that even Muggles has not made it out here yet (not yet). The cache was in poor condition from water damage. Rain got in as the lid of the plastic lunch box had disintegrated. The rest of the container was ...

Re: 1817 Days all alone

Hi all, I put a video together showing some of the journey to get there. Note that there is more to the journey than this, however this shows generally what its like. The video was taken heading east to the Knob. It would also be possible to come from the south, the direction I exited. http://www.yo...

Holidays are booked - End of September around the WA Public Holiday. I'm going to try to a do some maintenance on Nichols Knob. It's been over six years now since I put the cache down - with only one attempt to find it. I'd better have a look, make sure it's OK. I might pick up a couple of the GCR c...

Thank's for your replies. I don't think I will put another really remote cache out there - There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest, at least not on this forum. Bit to hard hey?? :) Don't let that stop you all putting some remote ones out there though - they're the ones I generally go for. Cheers

1817 Days all alone

1817 days is how long my first cache has been sitting there, at the edge of the Gibson Desert, waiting for someone to find it. I think an Australian record for a virgin, but is anyone going to have a look for it? Red Devils had a try at it last year. Nichols Knob its called, and it's mate Helena Spr...

Australias Oldest Unfound Cache Found

Congratulations to Team Landcruiser on yesterdays find of "Queen Victoria Spring". Its been around for a long time. I am quite surprised it has lasted this long as it is not a technically difficult cache. I have personally tried to find this cache twice. Once in late 2002 I attempted it on a quad bi...

Well, I did half of what I set out to do. I found and logged Australia's 2nd Oldest unfound cache (according to caughtatworks website). Plane Wreck (GC5020). Good fun driving over the dunes. See the log for further details. I failed in my attempt to find Queen Victoria Spring - maybe next time. Chee...

Dave,

I realise all the dangers etc - but I'm going to Perth to visit my family. I've always wanted to go to Queen Victoria Spring and the plane wreck is only 6 or 7 kms off the road which I am travelling on. I've had my eye on these two caches for some years now.

Hi all,

I am going to attempt to find Australia's two oldest unfound caches early in January. These are Queen Victoria Spring and Plane Wreck.

I will be passing these caches on my way to Perth so I might as well have a look whilst I am in the area.

cheers
