Re: Banned Trigs/caches
Just an update on Mt Warning. The "Temporary" park closure now extended to March 2022. At this stage it does not look good for the park (that's the entire park and not just the summit) to be re-opened. If possible add your voice by writing a letter to the NSW Environment Minister Matt Keen. This par...

E-petition to save Mt Warning access
There are two geocaches and a trig at Mt Warning and its one of the most spectacular and popular walks on the east Coast. NPWS are trying to close the summit walk down permanently. A group of locals have put together an E Petition to the NSW parliament. Please sign to help save the walk. And ask you...

Re: Banned Trigs/caches
A group of locals have started a facebook page to re-open the Mt Warning Summit walk. This is one of Australia's most popular walks. It's supported by the true custodians, and there are geocaches up there. Please lend your support! https://www.facebook.com/groups/427241145015683

Re: Banned Trigs/caches

Re: Banned Trigs/caches
Seems that very little of what NPWS provide about the walk is true. Signs at the base state that following: Wollumbin, which means ‘cloud catcher’ to some Aboriginal People, is a traditional place of cultural law, initiation and spiritual education for the people of the Bundjalung Nation. Under Bund...

Re: Banned Trigs/caches
More detail about what I found. The sad thing is that it's such a missed opportunity to showcase the park. It could easily be a major attraction if the bureaucracy would just wake up to the possibilities.

Re: Banned Trigs/caches
Quick check this week reveals that NSW NPWS have secretly removed the chain and posts from the rock scramble at the summit of Mt Warning. The current temporary closure supposedly for safety appears a con. The posts and chain and the footings were all up in serviceable condition and the summit is acc...

Re: Banned Trigs/caches
The following from an information sheet for Mt Warning dated Nov. 2020. This does not look good for continued access at Mt Warning. If this continues expect access to Nat parks to be limited to paved footpaths not far from the car park, and forget about placing physical caches. Again please find tim...

Banned Trigs/caches
Controversial topic! Assistance required. Following on from the ban on climbing Ayers Rock last year and destruction of the summit cairn the NT parks service announced this week that from 1 March 2021 the informal walking track to the summit of Mt Gillen with its superb views over Alice Springs will...

Sydney...Crosslands..Boardwalk Empire
Walking at Crosslands today and while walking over the first boardwalk from the Crosslands end spied a familiar shape in a recently broken up stump just next the Boardwalk. Jumped down and sure enough. a 200ml Sistema clearly marked Geocache with a readable label that read "Boardwalk Empire". The bo...

Re: Garmins foray into geocaching has ended
Went to search for one still in my Gps last week in Kuring-gai.Couldn't find it, but then again if I did there would have been no way to log it. Some contempt that they do not seem to have made arrangements to relocate caches with ground speak or other listing sites, like GA. Though this one would n...
