Post by Team GeoCoopers » 01 May 05 10:37 am

Hi All,

FYI a semi decent article on GeoCaching from the Sunday Mail here in SA this morning.

Small Format (380K 1000x1000)
http://www.jezza1.com/SundayMail_01-05-2005_100dpi.jpg

Large Format (4.8M 3200x3300)

PS Please be kind and/or patient with my poor DSL while viewing the above links :-)

I knew this was coming up, because I am the Richard from Glenelg North. Anyone want to admit to being Allan from Aberfoyle Park?

I didn't know it was a national article, but it makes sense with most of their articles being across all the News Ltd papers.

Even better to see GCA referred to in the same breath as GC - should boost the site profile a little.

(And they even spelled MacCarthy correctly!!!)

Apparently it didn't get a run in Brisbane. Anyone from the other states want to comment as to whether it was in their local News Ltd paper?

As they had Sydney & Melbourne cachers there thought it might have gone national.

Yes, not a bad article. I was a bit worried about how this one would turn out, but ended up pretty good in the end. A bit inaccurate about the technical aspects of the Claustral event cache, but nothing that spoils the story.
The media seem to love our staple shots of the Hassan's Walls & Obscured by Clouds caches, they have been used in articles several times now.

I think this has been discussed before, but it's probably a good idea if we had a "media" page on the GCA site were they could go to pinch stock hi-res photos, quotes, stats etc. Maybe we can even collect these articles and keep them on an Articles page on the CGA server? There has probably been half a dozen already.

EcoDave :)

Something for new servers perhaps?
I have added a mirror to 4MB version of the above article here

A good article about geocaching. I wonder how many new people in SA will become Geocachers now??

It's funny becuase the only time I expected to see Richard's name in the paper, I was expecting the rest of the sentence say:
"wanted in connection with....."

;-)
