dragonZones
Am new to GCA and am unsure what the deal with dragonZones is - what are they? (and anything else to do with them)
Cheers

Re: dragonZones
Took me ages to work it all out cachem8 but I slowly came to grips with it and reading that wiki entry will help heaps.
Also take a look at your own dragonZone page - http://geocaching.com.au/my/dragonzone/ and the dragonZone leaderboards - http://geocaching.com.au/dragonzone/ - to see all the action.
And as C@W says, choose wisely

Re: dragonZones
This could interesting (not for me but C@W and Craigrat) and the NSW government has just announced forced mergers of council areas, in the Sydney area we are going to from I think 43 to 25 councils, with other amalgamations occurring in country regions. So all the boundaries will change for the areas we use for DZ. It probably won't happen for a year, but could well affect zone ownership.
I have no idea where you get the boundary files from, or how quickly the new onse will be available.

Yeah, the areas will be a lot bigger soon and most (if not all) will have different names. The dragonZones are going to become larger...Richary wrote:This could interesting (not for me but C@W and Craigrat) and the NSW government has just announced forced mergers of council areas, in the Sydney area we are going to from I think 43 to 25 councils, with other amalgamations occurring in country regions. Do we need to change our/the boundaries? If we can keep them as they are......well and good.cachem8 wrote:Yeah, the areas will be a lot bigger soon and most (if not all) will have different names. Re: dragonZones
I just read about my local council merger (blah blah whatever) and my thoughts turned to dragonZones too . I've looked at some zones that are so huge that it would take a massive effort to have a swing to another clan .
I know electoral boundaries are ever changing, but they are roughly balanced so they have a similar sized population base. Could this be an option for boundaries in the future?
