c:geo has (and has had for some time I think) a function called "go4cache". What it does is send your location and the cache you are going for to a server somewhere (only while you are caching of course) It also get others nearby you from the server and displays them on your map and where they are going. Now for this to work you not only need to be caching in the same area as someone else at the same time but you both have to be using c:geo which is very unlikely...
But today I noticed this dot on my map...
It was someone I didn't know going for a cache "504 hours ago" which I'm guessing is a bug since someone being there 21 days ago doesn't really interest me...
That aside, it got me thinking... I was wondering if this could be done on GCA cacher? I imagine it would work better during / season when we all race out for the same cache at the same time (and there's probably more of us using GCA cacher)
What do you think?
When the Mega was on it was interesting seeing the little cluster of cachers in and around Albury.
Also, I noticed a few cachers out in my local area late one night last week and saw their logs the next morning.
Quite a nice idea. You can also send messages to them.

Does neongeo use the same server as c:geo? ie. can you see each other from either app?gmj3191 wrote:This feature works well in Neongeo.Laighside Legends wrote:I've had an idea... well not really, just discovered something...

On ICS, as I understand it most of the changes are directed at tablets and there isn't anything earth shattering for phones.
I imagine it would work best if all apps sheared there users with everyone...

Another feature suggestion:
I went for some trigs this morning and realised you can't upload photos from the app. This would save me some time and would be a nice feature

Re: new GCA android app
I'm a very new Noob and got involved in all of this excitement last week - just before heading out bush this weekend.
Using a Galaxy S2, GCA (ver 0.33) worked like a dream and I'm very impressed with it - until I lose internet coverage.
The GPS and compass work very well when I compared it to a GPSr.
My questions are:
1. How would I load maps BEFORE I head out seeing as GCA doesn't work with GPX files? Testing it this morning it seems only to load the size screen/map I have on the phone and then I can't pan to other areas.
2. Would I be able to save these offline maps/tiles on my phone to use like a GPX file while still using GCA?
Mtrax, I think you are a legend....

You can now add photo to your Log when submitting a Log Visit, just click button and choose picture from Gallery..
Also added is a History of last 50 Logs (from the app) so if your forgetful you can browse your history of logs from the App..

Re: new GCA android app
like the new release. Maybe there should now be a locationless list so you can log them on the go

Re: new GCA android app
GA cacher should already launch if a qr code is scanned of a gca web address
