And I thought I'd already tried that.

Thank you

I've been trying to load my GCA finds into my Found database in GSAK. They are simply being imported as unfound caches.

Somebody please tell me what setting I have to change.....
Go into Tools- Options
Then in the General tab under Method for matching owned and found caches check the exact match and type in your user name in the space below.

Thats what I did and it all works fine. And make sure that the status attributes to the right of this are all set to different colours.

:D

FYI - GSAK8 Is out of Beta!!!!!

This is a Paid and Manual Update, the cost depends on when you bought GSAK.

The Basic Price for GSAK for new users is $30.

If you bought it in October this year... the V8 Update is FREE!
Ive had GSAK for just over a year and paid $15. It is slightly more or less depending or your usage time but I think the most a current user will pay is $25.

Definitely worth the money :D

Yep still looks BETA to me. I think someone jumped the gun. :D

You can pre pay for the upgrade ready for when it is released, but at this stage it is still in a highly stable and well refined BETA stage.

I've paid for mine in anticipation of the full release. The beta works well; however I am one of those people that won't fully commit until the sticker comes off :)

No Beta Badge on mine anymore ;)

Version 8.0.0.129

Menu --> Tools --> Options --> (Tab) Advanced ---> (Tick Box) Notifty Me of Patches.

Next restart it should prompt you to patch and register or be treated as a new user with nag screens.

THEREFORE: Do NOT Do this if you are happy using the free Beta for the moment ;)

Clyde's version of Beta is like everyone else's 6th month of production.

According to Clyde's latest post, V8 will come out of beta, and become public on Wednesday.

It is now out of beta...

Can someone tell me how to add a cache using the API? (not just from a radius around a point)
ie. I go and find a cache - I have its GC code - I then want to add it to the database
Its probably quite obvious but I can't seam to work it out...

The quickest way for a single cache is to just download itys GPX file from the GC listing.

If you really want to use the API, (and this works well if there have been a few new caches published and your PQ isn't due for a while) go to the GC State listing and tick off each new cache you want. Open the resulting loc file in GSAK, filter to those new caches (they will all be shown as 'Other' type), then use the API menu to "Refresh cache data". Much faster than loading individual GPXs.

Just bought GSAK V8.
I was looking to use the "Geocaching.com access" to speed stuff up but found some issues;
1. My Finds PQ is not in the "Download Pocket Queries.." list so needs to be collected manually. This is not so big an issue as I actually need the GPX file to import into GCA and "My Geocaching Profile.com"

2. Downloading PQ's via the API doesn't update the "Last GPX" column. In a sense, the API is not a GPX file but I was relying on this update for running the "CleanUpDB" macro. I have since found that the API function "Status Check.." does the same excepting it has a limit on how many caches it can check in one go. The advantage of the macro was it was very quick and only needed the column update. For the macro I had created a filter for it to scan being;
  • Found status : Not found & Exclude mine
    Has User notes : no
Code: caches that don't start with WM or OX
This filter has 6704 caches in it at present. The API report processing about 5800.

Does anyone know if Clyde has implemented a way of marking which caches he has downloaded via the API?
Should we suggest he update the LastGPX column?

Why not ask on the GSAK forum?

EDIT: The last GPX column IS updated when loading caches via the API.

I like my current version and I know how to do eveything I want - get and load PQsand GPX files from GC and GCA, and export caches to my gps. If I upgrade to v8, will I have to work out how to do everything in a new way now? I'm not so good at computer stuff :(
