Re: dragonZone
Thanks for the reply.
I was kind of expecting that from the "No Rules" nature of the game but thought I'd check anyway.

Do GCA events count?

Re: dragonZone
Sorry, no. Only physical caches count in Phase 1, Future phases may introduce some benefit for events.

Re: dragonZone
And here I was getting excited about the possibility of attending 4 GCA events this weekend...
Re: dragonZone
I've just noticed the tips on my dragonzone page. There's a few things in there that changes the way I've been playing. I'll have to rethink a few things when I find caches next.
My mind is reeling from the possibilities. I think I need a drink.

Re: dragonZone
What do the letters A & C which appear after the LGA stand for?
I read the wiki & this forum to no avail.
Why doesn't Minotaur control WA when we have the most caches listed?

Re: dragonZone
A = Administrative Area
B = Boroughs
C = Cities or Councils depending on the state
DC = District council
M =Municipalities
RC = Regional councils or Rural cities depending on the state
S = Shires
T = Towns
Unincorporated
State control is based on the number of dragonZones controlled. While Minotaur has 17 caches controlled, they are in only 3 dragonZones. Phoenix has 14 caches controlled but control 7 dragonZones.

Re: dragonZone
Thank you.
I just checked the members of each clan & noted there are a few who have no GCA profile, some have no GCA finds, others very few.
Perhaps some of these are sock puppet accounts?
Their occupations are interesting, many highly skilled, one even an astronaut.

Re: dragonZone
You have to have an account at GCA to join the game. The only one that I can see is wonky is Wander Which Way? due the ? at the end of their name. As far as occupations go, well, that's just fun I expect. We're not the Federal Government where everything is checked and confirmed. If you want to be an astronaut, good luck to you
I don't doubt that some will have few or no finds. That's the idea of this game. To get more people involved in geocaching other than just the standard game. Hopefully they will enjoy finding GCA caches and the fun of dragonZone. People are always welcome to join us at Geocaching Australia.

Crashed whilst entering so didn't expect this entry to show. See below.

Re: dragonZone
Well whoever they are they're welcome down this way. Just hid another to make 3 since the game started, with another made up & waiting the right moment to place. Holiday muggles are thick on the ground.
Re: dragonZone
Is there any difference between a Dragon Jewel and a standard GCA cache, apart from the spelling and that a Jewel must have been hidden post Dragon Zone?

Re: dragonZone
A cache that you hide after you join the game will attract Karma points for you for each find that is made. Caches hidden before you joined the game don't attract Karma points. A cache that you hide after you join the game will attract personal DZPoints for you when you publish it. Apart from those things, a cache, is a cache, is a cache.
Re: dragonZone
Thanks for that. I've got a cache location that's been under consideration for some time now. If there's any further strategical considerations, I'll post them in the Griffin section of this forum as I presume that other clans are sufficiently honourable not to peek.

Re: dragonZone
Honourable? Have you read Game of Thrones? That's what the 4 clans are like. Beheadings everywhere (or so I hope)nutwood wrote:Thanks for that.
