Re: dragonZone
Well I was a good boy and joined the group with the least number of peeps ... Minotaur. Looks like I'm the only WA rep at this stage!
So how long will this dragon-iciousness run for?
Any when do we get a dragon emoticon ... all the cool kids will want one

Then click the View As: GoogleMaps link and you'll have just GCA caches on the map.

Wow, what can I say, except Thankyou.
I was just showing Andrew the personal DragonZone point section when I noticed the karma points, and we were trying to work out what they were for.
Thankyou for liking my idea.
Cheers

Do we have the option of changing clans if we chose the wrong colour?

Re: dragonZone
You don't have the ability but the site admins do. Any dZPoints you accrue against a cache will stay with your OLD clan but from the moment of change onwards, new dZPoints you accrue against a cache will be with your new clan.Echo wrote:Do we have the option of changing clans if we chose the wrong colour?

Re: dragonZone
The question now is, who will get control over the elusive Murray Bridge zone in a couple weeks time? Not much more than 4 events and a some trigs to chose from though...

I'm really sorry, but I don't understand it.
What is the point? How do you get a winner?
I did read the wiki thingy and the thread.

Re: dragonZone
The point is ... well, it's just another addition to the game of geocaching. It's kind of like capture the flag, but on a much grander scale and you need to strategise your allocation of additional points and when / where you find geocaches. I admit it won't be for everyone.
Instead of just being a lone cacher, you can join a clan. The clan you join tries to "control" the dragonZones by "controlling" numbers of geocaches. So the more caches your clan finds and controls (by finding and adding points from your reserves) the more dragonZones you control. When your clan controls the entire state or country you get "bragging rights". Your clan will be made up of members from all over the country, so having "secret meetings" about strategy is a component as well as public announcements that you're going to raid a moveable cache area to control those caches and move them in a zone you don't yet control, so you can control it. Gathering together as a clan on a physical cache raid and bombarding the caches with your reserve (or banked) points outwits and outplays your rival clans to control the caches.
Your also get some bragging rights as the more caches you hide and find, the higher your score and the better your rank. It IS all about the numbers isn't it
Over time as the game progresses, additional "tasks" will be added and "goals" to can be achieved will be programmed in. You will get trophies for each of the tasks or goals, adding to your points and increasing your rank. Only game members will be eligible for the trophies.
There is no winner per se. Ultimately it's all just for fun.

Re: dragonZone
This is awesome. Ive been almost banned from Ingress by Zhaoy as it is kinda pointless and doesn't have the hunt aspect she loves about caching... so now there is a game that I hope she can get into as well and we can go caching more, that includes the social side ingress brought and the team based strategy that was absent from caching

and There are only bingo caches anywhere near my zones! Well, apart from the four I have hidden ages ago. Looks like I had better start hiding a lot more... either that or pimp GCA on social media so that more cachers start using GCA to make their hides.

Re: dragonZone
My problem is I have a few local zones where I have found all the GCA caches... so I have to start planning some moveable raids to get them to turn Green.... moveables are going to play a big part of the strategy I thinK!
