TB distance calulations

Post by edmil » 15 November 07 11:59 am

I think I read something a while back in the forums but I can't seem to locate the information now.

My question is how do you release a TB so that distance traveled is calculated from you home coordinates instead of the coordinates of the first cache you place it in?

I didn't think there was a simple way of doing this, as the travel distances aren't a true reflection of their distance travelled anyway :P ......you normally log (and retrieve) the TB from your closest found cache (ideally your own). This is usually pretty close in most (not all) cases.

Whilst it is not ideal (or overly encouraged), you could place it in an unpublished cache listing your home coordinates as the location. Call the cache "edmil's home" etc and then you have a starting point close to home.

hope this helps.

Thanks Map Monkey,

From what I recall I think the previous forum post went along those lines.
