Best food spots

Post by embi » 05 February 04 3:17 pm

I was talking to one of the american cachers and he has a website where he list good food places to go to while caching.

I thought this would be a great idea. Ever been caching and wonder where is a good place to eat?

I know when I worked for Telstra all those yrs ago we had spots to get the best "whatever". One of those places was a bakery in Bacchus Marsh (now closed) that had the best sausage rolls in the country.

So how about it. Where is the secret spot you have. I will collect them and make a webpage.

I think the details to include should be

Name of place.
State.
Coordinates.
What is the must have food at this place.

Great idea Embi. And when we finally make it over your way to geocache we will not have to waste time looking for eating places!!! We can plot them into our laptop and design our holiday to suit - cant you just tell how addicted this Team Pathfinder member is.  :D :D

Unfortunately if you guys make it this way all I can add is "please bring a picnic basket!!!!" not many or should I say any, fine dinning establishments within 100klms or more of where are many of our caches are place. Having said that we do have the Golden Arches in town - :D :D

But in Adelaide there are so many fine resturants, lots of them near caches too.

Alex is obviously a man after my own stomach. There are so many great places to eat here. Gengis Khan, no to far from Freddo cache "Resevoir Frogs", Ky Chow also near a Freddo cache "Beauty" and our other fave is Imperial Peking, also near a Freddo cache (can't remember the name right now). Anyone else see a pattern forming here, maybe Freddo's been onto this for a while! Will get co-ords next time we eat at them.

If you're in the Healesville area you can't go past

Healesville 3777
Ph. 3-5962-4002
Fax 3-5962-1037
Email info@healesvillehotel.com.au

Great for lunch or dinner or even a bar meal at any time.

If your around Burnside, SA and need to stop off somewhere for a quick bite for lunch then try Leabrook Bakery S34o55.964' E138o39.569' (not the deli). They have the best Jam Berliners which have gallons of 'jam'. Eat and Enjoy!

In Nunawading? I think not!! Someething seriously wrong with your GPS, time to upgrade to a Magellan and get rid of that Garmin

I'd say more like the vicinity of S37o 39.252' E145o 30.983'

Hmm,
This would make an interesting Reverse Cache.
I would add budget required though.

Some people I know think Golden Arches expensive. Others think Berowra Waters Inn (sorry this cache errr... restaurant was archived many years ago) was an economical place for a snack!

I highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat (esp brekky) at Silo in Kingston (Canberra). There are a few nearby caches. S 35 18.945 E 149 08.418.

It is no contest!

The BEST place to eat in Adelaide is - The Earl of Leicester in Parkside. Not only that you may be served by a fellow cacher (not me).

I might suggest the Chicken "Bulls Bollocks" Schnitzel or the Salt & Pepper Squid. They are my personal favorites.

While there why not wash it all down with a beer from their extensive (ie >100 beers) range.

As for economy - the schnitzels are all under $15 and the S&P Squid is $11.50. BTW - the faint of stomach may want to plan to share these meals - they are ENORMOUS!

My favourite place to dine(you just don't eat here) is The Cafe Opera at The Intercontinental Hotel. The best silver service buffet I have found. Not cheap but who cares when it is special. Its about $50 a head + wine.
The food is extensive from oysters, smoked salmon, prawns, sushi, all manner of cold meats and salads, roast meats, hot seasonal vegetables, a multitude of breads and cheeses and the sweets are to die for. Mixed berry compot, creme brulee, petit fours, tortes, cakes, custard, fresh fruit, jellies, and on special occasions like Valentines day(chocolate mousse with heart shaped chocolate on top, and Christmas individual plum puddings with brandy sauce and mountains of whipped cream.
Now thats all I can think of at the moment. I have a need to visit my fridge.
