I'm with Mind Socket and ToolKit on this one. One of my first ever cache's, I came across a Caramello Koala that had more or less been in cache in the hot sun for about six months or more. Yech! I tend to remove any perishable food with me as my swap when I do find it. I'm also not about to eat anything if I don't know how long it's been there or how many hands it's been through.
Let common sense apply. If you think a cache like Sugar Hit is suitable to leave lollies in, and it's ant/vermon/critter proof and maybe in the shade, then go for it. The last thing I want to be is a killjoy!
