Let's say there is a very low footbridge or boardwalk through the swap.

You don't want to go off the boardwalk uinto the swamp, but your GPS is a little hesitant at where the cache is.

A small mirror (like a dentists mirror) on a stick allows you to walk upright while checking the places under the boardwalk without getting all grubby by looking at the reflection in the angled mirror near your feet.

We use a mirror all the time.
Great for those caches you can't see under without being obvious, sure saves those nasty finger surprises too.

I carry a cheap compact Mirror with one side being a close-up mirror, It has saved me from Spiderwebs and God knows what else!
I don't have to bend over looking under things looking bizarre, instead, I can just use the double mirror and see sometimes with the torch by shining it on one side and using the mirror!

METAL hard drive platters from recent hard drive models have a mirrored finish and are perfect for looking into awkward places. They fit nicely into the palm of your hand and if angled carefully will reflect sunlight into those dark ominous holes before you sacrifice your fingers.
They also make a great heliostat signalling device, hold with one hand. look through the hole in the center of the disc, line a couple of fingers of your other hand up to the target you want to 'flash' and angle the mirror to reflect the sun onto the 'sight' hand. Each time the sunlight falls on the sight hand the target also gets a flash.
This makes a good use for those stuffed hard drives that are torn apart for the magnets. Special screwdrivers or a drill press with a vice are required to get them apart safely.
Look out for the platters made of glass as they look the same but can give a nasty surprise and cuts when they shatter. When you've opened a drive, cover it with a cloth and give the top platter a good whack if it bends your onto a good one, if it breaks then toss it, it's not worth the trouble.

I'll use the newbies' thread to save myself from embarrassment with this one. How do I bring up a list of my GCA only finds?
When I go to my "cacher page" and click 'Finds' I get GCA and GC combined. The only way I ever see the GCA total is when I log a find on a GCA cache where it says how many GCA finds you've made and what the next one will be (number-wise).

I use the 'Banner' tab on the right hand side of the 'my cacher page' options to get the totals or use a query to get a list.
