I am having trouble getting stars to come up, how do you post a picture with your user name?

to get stars to come up, go in to the forum index page, there you will see the general chit chat bow in there is a link to update your stars.

how do you post a picture with your user name?
The picture is called an Avater it seems. You will find on the bottem or you profile page a box about that. You need your picture to be stored on another website, say Geacaching.com profile or you own website and provide a link to it.
To find the address of the picture:
. go to the page with the picture (on gc.com, your website or ware ever)
. Right click on the picture and cut and paist the address into the avater box in you profile.
Make sure the picture is small and do some testing in the testing area found in the main index. It seems a GIF file is best but GC.com only stores jpg files so if you want a gif file it will have to be on a site other than GC.com

I'm still a newbie, but I have a tip for others.
Always carry a tennis ball (or other similar object), for two reasons:
- When challenged by anyone, you can say you were just retrieving your ball from the bush, and
I use it to mark the cache hidey hole. This way I can remove the container and walk away from the site a little way to do the cache business. Then, hey presto, you can go back and find the hiding spot easily.
I once took a container from a cache nook, and when I went back couldn't find where I'd got the danged thing from!!
Now I use the a bright, fluro yellow, tennis ball. No probs.

Thanks Kyle.
Rock your socks off!

And then you smell the perfume,
You lay upon our roundish bed,
And then you feel a tickling on your head.

I agreeb with pprass in regard to having lessons from the experienced cachers. Unfortunatly I had to knock back an offer from embi to go to Ballarat earlier in the week because of work. I did find some easy caches close to home but did not have much luck with ones of the next level, which makes one wonder If I am doing it right. Perhaps we newbies could get some tips ( lessons ).
Cheers Steve

Good morning all. Another newbie here with just 3 caches under my belt.
Really looking forward to getting on to more. Especially with my kids.
Finding this thread very useful. I do need assistance in one thing. Probably lots later. But let's start here.
A number of people use abbreviated terms for different sayings in their cache logs. eg. TNLN, FTF etc. Is there anywhere on the geocache websites giving an explanation of these
Some I can figure out. But a quite a few I cannot.
