Oh dear, this will make puzzle cache hiders somewhat grumpy

Post by caughtatwork » 05 December 05 4:55 pm

http://cachespoilers.com/index.php

I can't see any solutions for any Australian caches, but that doesn't mean that they aren't there or won't be there in the future.

The site has recently disabled logons and will now only accept details via email. Wonder why

I have no idea how much hate mail they are going to get.

All of my puzzle caches are there, but they have no solutions. I really couldn't say what would happen should anyone ever post the solution.

What a pack of morons.

I suppose that's one advantage of registering on GCA. Perhaps if a solution is ever printed for one of the caches involved, a transfer to GCA would be in order? PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR GCA - I DON'T WANT TO OPEN UP OLD WOUNDS. THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION. My puzzle/unknown cache (When I was a Boy) isn't listed there.

Wouldn't they accept solutions for caches GCA, Navicache, or whatever?

And I don't know why people bother solving puzzle caches anyway... all you do is log the find, people never check the log book to see if you *really* did it.

Personally, I consider it an honour just to be nominated on the site. :)

Mind you, I only say that because there's no solutions to any of our puzzles there, only the question!

I would expect that they would only 'slurp' the caches from GC not from the other sites, so any GCA cache would probably be safe.

That normally happens anyway doesn't it? I do cache checks only occasionally and only have a quick look through the logs. I don't check off who has listed on the website against who has written in the log. If someone wants to "find" any of my caches that way, they are sad, sad individuals.
Most puzzle caches are about having a bit of fun as well as the chase. Each to their own though, and I have no problem with people not doing certain types of caches. As an example, it is pretty well known that the 2 Dogs hate math multis but that's their choice and so be it.

Your rating: I own this cache and request that it be removed from this site. If not removed, anyone using this site should note that if a spoiler is posted for this cache, the cache will be archived and the find log of the person posting the spoiler and any find logs attrributed to the spoiler will be deleted.
Details removed so not to spoil!

Gee, if you can't be bothered to ask the puzzle author for a hint ???
Sort of makes finding it pointless if someone gives you the solution.
<happy now?>

Why would you suggest something like that?

In about 98% of the case, most websites are on a shared server, so, if you are suggesting that "taking down" their server is a good thing, spare a thought for the hundreds of other website owners with websites on the same server that would have to suffer the inconvenience of their websites being offline as well.

Sorry, but it's a stupid thing to suggest.

I think this site takes the fun out of puzzle caches, hence why I won't be using it/posting anything on it. I spent 4 hours on I/O by Grank and enjoyed not only the challenge but the reward of finding it without any extra hints given to me. If no-one posts spoilers to this site I don't think it will be a problem. I noticed one cacher on the site said if any spoilers get posted for his caches he will archive them immediately.
