You can't please everyone!xf king wrote:This all sounds silly to me, no offence! and I totally agree with Webguys comments.
Some cachers think puzzle caches are silly, micros are silly, virtuals are silly, movables are silly, travel bugs are silly, forums are silly, CGA is silly, paperless caching is silly, events are silly, the newsletter is silly etc...
If we didn't have people adding new stuff to the game then the only option would be to hunt a plastic container in a burnt out tree log - not that there's anything wrong with that!

Something like a smaller version of a i! hat or an EcoTeam key chain?
Other pastimes have something similiar. Amateur Radio has QSl cards
Some common, others not so
Its like anything - if people want to participate they will, otherwise they won't

What about Souvenir cards...?
What we like most is to collect the souvenir cards from the cache we found. Fill them into the business card folder. It can be left on the coffee table for the friends to pick up and browse them – create the topic to discuss about them.
We do left about 20 souvenir cards in our caches. This will help us to come back to our caches for maintenance when the cards get lower and fill them.
We occasionally left our calling cards in the seal plastic bag with the log book in the cache that we found. Some cachers left their colourful “business cardÂâ€

While I have left calling cards in the past, I have to agree with Webguy - that they are Geotrash, however at least here in WA, some cache setters leave cache cards (as Varuna has mentioned). They are generally business card sized, and collectable and leave us with a permanent reminder and 'brag' book of the cache.
The following teams particularly are to be congratulated on their efforts here: Team Pathfinder, Team Landcruiser, Lyn Pat and Nathan, Varuna, Phil & Sigrid Justrakin and BCNU. There are too many others to mention all here, but great work guys.

i'm not a big fan of calling cards - but each to their own. i figure the record of your visit is in the logbook, and if you want to add a sticker/stamp to personalise thats great.

collectable cards appeal as a take home souvenier of the find and if they form part of as bigger hunt, so much the better!

just my 2c worth, your mileage may vary...

In defence of Dave's idea, I think a lot of people, myself included, have missed the point somewhat. Implemented as collectors' items, I can see how the concept would work without creating a glut of cards in caches.
Oh, and when did geotrash go from being poorly placed caches to poorly placed cache items? Ahh, gotta love buzzwords.
