Where can a new cachers to GCA find information about DragonZones?

I have looked around the site and can not see any description of what it is or how it works.

Explanations and help is all recorded in the wiki.
I will add the standard help link to the headings on the dZ pages.

I was asked this from a new cacher and it started me looking at the site a bit more critically from a newby viewpoint.

The first point of contact is the main page.

There is no information or direct link to information about what geocaching is or what the site is about. It appears that you have to know a lot before you even access the site.

I admit that I very rarely look at the main page as I have the pages that I want to go to saved as favourites and don't go through the menus but looking at it from a newby point of view I could see how it would look confusing.

Also note that newbies see a different front page than you would which changes each person's experience.

Wiki page is at -http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/DragonZone. I have cleaned it up in the past but if you think it needs anything else to make for easier reading and understanding, do let us know.

To see what a newbie sees, log out and visit the front page. It does change depending on how many caches you have found. Fewer caches, less stuff more informative. More caches more stuff, less informative.

I have finally found time to check out the suggestions above but, in the eye of a new (to GCA) cacher. I cannot see any links anywhere to a description of what DragonZone is. As it appears that GCA is heading down a path where DragonZone appears to be a driving force to recruit cachers and to keep the interest in the site I think there should be a lot more details easily available for the lay cacher to easily locate.

If you visit any dZ page there is a blue circle with a question mark which will link you to the wiki.
http://geocaching.com.au/dragonzone/

It's not linked from the front page because for newbies, the less the more. Teach them how to play and then encourage them to participate in games.

Thanks for that. I would never have thought to look for that little question mark to get information.

That's a bit sad. The help icons have been spread across the site for various things ever since i! was around as that's their code. Do they need to be a different colour to stick out? Too much blue on blue on blue?

Maybe I'm just old fashioned and have not caught up with the current style of web page. I am just getting used to looking for the horizontal lines to find the main menu.

I am used to help links says HELP.

Also, in this case, I was not looking for "help". I was looking for general information about DragonZone which I was expecting would be in an evident position somewhere on one of the pulldowns under the DragonZone Menu.

No, sorry, all of our help is in the wiki which people can edit and keep up to date. The wiki is where the information is.

Sorry things weren't so easy to find for you crew 153. There is a "Help and support" option as the last item in the menu which directs you to either the wiki, forum or other specific areas. Do you have any suggestions on how we could make finding help easier?
