Trigs GPX file problems

Post by Team737 » 30 April 17 6:27 pm

I don't seem to be able to get a trigs GPX file to show up on my Garmin Oregon 650. I have a GPX mailed to me daily, but when I copy it to the GPX folder on the GPSr, the waypoints don't show up on the map, or in the search list. I've looked at the GPX file with a GPX file editor, and it clearly shows the 1000 trigs in the file. Can anyone offer any assistance?
Cheers
Lee

I save a NSW GPX file and load it into GSAK and then send it over the Garmin. Usually works for me but sometimes I don't get the GCA stuff come across (probably more to do with user error than technology).

You may need to be using the 1.0.1 compatible version of the file.

I get TrigPoints from GCA to my Garmin 600 and they seem to come in fine.

I still can't get a trigs GPX file to show up....
On the GPS is a bunch of waypoint files (made in GPS) and a Groundspeak Pocket Query - should I expect the trigs to co-exist with them like that?
I've changed the format to 1.0.1 with no result.....
Any/all help appreciated....

Instead of using the file you got emailed to you, create a query and upload that GPX file to it. Does that work?

I think I've tried that too - do you mean going to the page at http://geocaching.com.au/my/query/ and trying the ZIP/GPX link?

I placed the GPX file on my sons little Magellan explorist 310, and they show up fine..... maybe that will be our trigs GPS??

Ideally I just want trigs to show up as waypoints, I might experiment with the CSV option also.....

check in your settings that you don't have some kind of filter active on the device to only show certain cache types. Been ages since I fired my oregon up, but I remember there was a setting somewhere.

That was it....
Thanks very much CraigRat....
I didn't have a filter active, as I always want to see all caches, but went into the filter settings and hit "Show All" - now they appear, but as that weird little chest symbol that Garmin use. The last time I had to delve into the filter was when caches started disappearing seemingly at random, we think a momentary lapse in screen locking caused some filter changes..... one screen-lock-forget resulted in deletion of all waypoints... that was a fun day.

Thanks again - very helpful!

Just remember that even with the latest firmware the Oregon 650 will sometimes change settings by itself. I do not use the auto compass but the device will turn it on randomly and there have been other settings that it has changed by itself that I didn't know about until something went wrong.

Glad it's not just me then. Sometimes I think I've touched something which changes things and I don't know how to get back to where I was.
