Post Unexpected cache find
I'm just a newcomer to this sport and spend hours trying to find my way around the website! Yesterday I found and logged a cache Milo & Otis at S35 22.549 E149 12.457. Very close by was another cache (REDACTED) so I signed the log, FTFBoot65 was the cacher (I think). I have tried to search for this on both GA and GZ and can't find a listing to log it. Help please?

It's a GC cache: GC259Q3
https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC2 ... o-and-otis

ADDED: sorry, you already know that . It might be a puzzle or multi-cache. I have stumbled on a few like that. Or perhaps a 'lost' GA moveable.

You could try contacting Boot65 to see if s/he remembers the cache in that area that they got a FTF on.

I think Sol de lune could easily answer this for us. It would appear it may be one of his GCA mystery caches. I've never been there but judging by the info given, it most probably is Black Caviar, GA7315, or Paris Beat, GA7314.

FTFBoot65 means the geocacher named Boot65 was First To Find (FTF) the geocache when it was hidden. FTF is like coming first in a race.

Hope that helps. :)

Yep, what No_Tomorrow said......

It's GA7314 Paris Beat and its GZ, according to my calculator, is 160 metres from the GZ of the GC cache Milo and Otis. chryzpa, load GA7314 into the area on the menu to 'Find a Cache' and the cache page will load. If you signed the log book in the cache you might as well log a find on the cache page. For anyone else reading this thread......well, you now have the GZ to a puzzle in that area...... :D

Dang! Missed my opportunity.
Joking - those kind of puzzles/mysteries are ones I can do.

Post Re: Unexpected cache find
I wrote down the coordinates that were given above for the puzzle cache (before they were deleted) and went out to find it. However, I couldn't find a cache :(. I came home and worked out the puzzle and no wonder I didn't find the coordinates, as the ones I had were about 100 metres out . So either I had written down the coordinates incorrectly, despite checking several times I had copied them correctly, or they had been given wrong here. Anyway, I should be able to log this cache, and its twin puzzle, soon. They were puzzles I could do, but as I find most too difficult :?: :!: :?: #-o. I don't bother looking at most puzzles and so had no idea these two were doable. So at least this has put two more caches on my to do list :D.

Don't forget to add as many griffin points as you can to them. One day I'll get down there and add my few too and eventually we'll hopefully win a few ACT ones over.

Whilst Sol de lune has my utmost respect, don't you think it would be fun to turn all his caches griffin gold? :griffin  :griffin

I logged those two caches today. I haven't done anything with griffin points as I am new to this, and frankly don't know what to do with them. Leading the cache finds this month :D with 48 so far \:D/ .

Noice...... [-X [-X

Just checked, and it's only a 4 hour drive from home to your nearest cache in Dubbo. Just a weekend trip really, but we just can't do it this weekend as we are off to SA.........we need to start changing it to a nice shade of blue....... :cerberus :cerberus :-" :-"

So, 14 points is the most I can allocate to a cache? Is this all I can allocate, or can I do this several times to a cache? It's also only showing 3 caches. How do I allocate points to other caches?

14 is all you an add to a single cache for the level you are in the game, peasant!. As you get to higher levels you get to add more points. I get to add 30 for example because I am at a higher level. You must add your points within 7 days of the log date. So anything beyond the past 7 days is unavailable to add points to.

So find more geocaches, get a higher rank, allocate more points, control more caches which controls more zones but do it within a week of your log date.

Oh dear, since joining dragon zone I have found quite a few caches. I didn't know there was a time limit. :( And as I have found most caches I can do in the ACT this does limit me.
