Needs Archiving log

Post by spatialriq » 16 November 15 5:57 pm

Just out of interest, what's the process of logging a "Needs Archiving" log?

I placed a NA on a cache about 7 weeks ago after several DNF's. Just wondering when it gets archived. I know in GC it's generally a 30 days wait.

At GCA it's 'When we remember to check'

The gc.com process is within a day or three a reviewer issues a Post Reviewer Note that the cache will be archived if not maintained within 30 days, and after that it gets archived if there's no response from the CO.
In the Ministro - Bunjil world this usually happens in a pretty timely way from what I've seen.

I've never quite come to grips with the grammar used to describe the log types.

Needs Archived ..... Shouldn't this really be Needs Archiving?
Post Reviewer Note .. Shouldn't this be Post Review Note or Reviewer Note or something similar?

Funny Americans.

It's almost as though they KNOW it's wrong but are too stubborn to admit it and change it to something grammatically correct. In what universe could "needs archived" ever be correct?

A bit like the way they call main courses 'entrees' over there. Surely they know they are wrong.

With the GPX format as it is and everyone parsing it incorrectly the textual descriptions of the log types are set in concrete now and forever. A rush job that has not served the community well.
