Locating an Archived cache

Post by The Morris » 28 May 15 9:21 pm

On our return from The Qld Mega we visited Kandos NSW and found an active cache http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC15 ... -in-kandos

We also found (and signed) a tobacco tin labelled Kandos Farewell 14/1/08 by Team George Jetson. I have been unable to locate it in the archived PQs. Could someone point me towards it?

TIA

I can only assume that it was never published or its on a different site.

GCA has no profile for George Jetson
GC Profile only shows one NSW hide. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest. ... rge+Jetson

Sorry.

Have had a look on opencaching.com but it doesn't show anything there either. The only suggestion (and it would be too late now) is if you had noted other finders names in the logbook and asked them.

As Richary said, you can take notice of other people's names in the log book. But to save the bother of contacting them, just note the date they found the cache (pick some logs when it appears the cache was still active) and then look up that date under the people's geocache finds lists. Then you will be able to find the cache and log it yourself. I have done this with archived caches I have found.

Could be a Terracaching.com cache, but I'm not a member there.
Doesn't appear to be an active AtlasQuest letterbox either.

I love these mystery boxes.

I just checked with Ministro's account and the nearest cache, published or unpublished on GC is http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... 09331a73dc

I was having a look at a natural feature in the bush not far from home which I'd never visited before. I was impressed and thought it would be a good place to hide a cache. I spotted a good little niche, removed a rock and found a cache! It had a GC5 code so was recent and the note inside said there were two others nearby. It had been there a couple of months and had two other signatures on the log. I looked it when back at a computer and found the hide area was in a National Park which would explain why it wasn't published. I PMed the CO but they hadn't logged in since not long after the cache was placed. I was going to tell them to place it just outside the Park (it wasn't far from the boundary and make it a multi. Maybe I'll do that... one day.

Anyway slightly off topic but I had to report that somewhere.
