I have had my eye on that for some time, well done! Did you paddle over to the nearby 'Lion' cache?Yurt wrote:I did some calculations based on the caches I've logged on the 6 months, 1 year and 2 years unloved locationless and came up with 18 odd years so I qualified for the 15 year one at Berry, NSW and the one down in Melbourne. One of these was found with a group so just in case one of the other finders uses that one first I had to find another to make sure.
Yesterday I found this cache:
Burrendong Gates
Four years and two months unfound. That boosts the tally a bit!

I thought about it but then I didn't have a boat or the capacity for a "long, long" walk. Will leave it to someone else. I think that one has got seven years on it.Hoojar wrote:I have had my eye on that for some time, well done! Re: Unloved - What is your total?
I was hoping to FTF this lonely cache - GC484MD - but after about seven months with no visits to it I was beaten to it by a month before my arrival. Then the cache went missing. It had been put in a silly exposed position. Shame.
Fortunately there were a few other local caches to find, and I had another FTF during my visit, but it was not old.

We've only had one find in 5 1/2 years on our Lookabout cache GC1DXHF - up on Newhaven Station (which has awesome camp grounds!). It's had one find and 2 DNFs. Gotta be some geocaching birders around who'd like to attempt it this coming winter...

Re: Unloved - What is your total
I reckon my cache GA3448 "Double Winnie" is by now one of Victoria's most unloved caches.
Published 10th October 2011, last find log 26th December 2011.
It's easily accessible. There are plenty of GC caches regularly logged within walking distance of it and in the general area 160 km east of Melbourne in Churchill 3842. Guess not many people out there in my part of Vic are aware that GA caches exist (or maybe they're not interested in finding them).
I'm attending OzMega in Murray Bridge next month - if no more logs of any sort occur, I think it's time to archive it.

Pimp it (and other GCA caches) on facebook, at events, wherever you go... the word won't spread itself!!ruralslicker wrote:I reckon my cache GA3448 "Double Winnie" is by now one of Victoria's most unloved caches.

It's *EVERYONES* site, and all those who use the site and love it would be doing us a huge favour by spreading the word in their various circles.
The biggest obstacle we have is the lack of advocates in these fragmented groups, and it shouldn't be left to the developers to promote the site..
Every bit helps!

Re: Unloved - What is your total?
I was just having a look for caches that haven't been found for a long long time and checked up on this one.
http://coord.info/GCTYG9
I found the companion cache last November but didn't get to this one. Marcus Vitruvius had something of an expedition to find it last month. Great log! Over 6.5 years unfound - that will boost the tally some.
So what's the longest unfound in NSW now? I looked up a few that haven't been found since 2010 but it would appear they have been muggled by all the DNFs although you never really know.

Looks like it is this one, but it also looks like it isn't there to be found.Yurt wrote:I was just having a look for caches that haven't been found for a long long time and checked up on this one.

Both of those links go to the same cache.noikmeister wrote:Looks like it is this one, but it also looks like it isn't there to be found.Yurt wrote:I was just having a look for caches that haven't been found for a long long time and checked up on this one.

I'm guessing you meant this one - was looking at it today. Wonder if it's still there or the sign to get the info.

There's quite a few in the ACT I noticed that haven't been found since 2009 as well. Would be fairly remote no doubt. Starting with this one:

Yep, that's the one. RE: Blue Gum series (there are three of them) are a bit remote, but not too bad by Namadgi standards.Yurt wrote:Both of those links go to the same cache.noikmeister wrote:Looks like it is this one, but it also looks like it isn't there to be found.Yurt wrote:I was just having a look for caches that haven't been found for a long long time and checked up on this one.

Re: Unloved - What is your total?
I found this to be an interesting thread - finding unloved caches is a hobby of mine and a few others up in QLD - archived or not.
You can find my caches in my profile at http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid ... fbf2172bb2 under "Lost Caches".
It's good to see others into it as well

Re: Unloved - What is your total?
Is there any way to actually search for archived caches? Just wondering if there's some option for searching for them ... well their webpage I mean, so you can determine if it's actually been taken or if it may still be there?Fangsoki wrote:I found this to be an interesting thread - finding unloved caches is a hobby of mine and a few others up in QLD - archived or not.

Crew 153 (QLD all-round nice guy) has some excellent Bookmark lists of caches still in position or that are archived http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid ... 001cef9403
You can also search for archived caches using GCA Pocket Queries.

Create yourself a query like this one:spatialriq wrote:Is there any way to actually search for archived caches?
