I've been looking for the Jervis Bay Forum - well hidden.

From Wikipedia:-
The Jervis Bay Territory is a territory of the Commonwealth of Australia. It was surrendered by the state of New South Wales to the Commonwealth Government in 1915[1][2] so that the Federal capital at Canberra would have "access to the sea".[3]

Typical Canberra - the policy was to use Jervis Bay for access to the sea, but in reality, it turned out they all use Batemans Bay.

Canberra has its own navy, albeit one ship, which would have difficulty entering the mouth of the Clyde when it is commissioned in 2014. Its two predecessors were too big to enter the Clyde as well whereas Jervis Bay can accommodate the entire Australian Navy or one American aircraft carrier.

When we first moved to the Shoalhaven we went for a drive to Murray's Beach on Jervis Bay & were surprised to come upon a road that was of freeway standard but ended at a boat ramp. Built by Canberra as part of their link to Jervis Bay. Unfortunately no money was spent on MR92 which was/is the main link between Jervis Bay Territory and Canberra. It was described some years ago by the NRMA as the worst main road in Australia. It is now sealed to highway standard between Nowra & Nerriga so perhaps we will see more Canberraites or Canberraians visiting their navy. :-"

There was even a nuclear reactor planned (and the ground prepared) for JB.

Also a railway line from CBR which remained on the drawing board. Just imagine...

I am concerned about all those maps that need to be destroyed and reprinted, and all those Satnavs, books.........

Shhhh! Let's just keep it quiet.

Why not go the other way, instead of NSW or ACT snagging JB, JB snags both of them.

As an ex-resident of the bay I can totally concur with this one!

Well apparently it has naval access, if it can create a militia or army it can annex them both :)
