Do contributors then get the right to use the data they submit as they see fit?

I kind of feel a bit conflicted about doing work for a multi billion dollar company for maps that I cannot legally use outside of their API, especially if they on-charge the use of these maps as they now do for big users..................... but on the other hand, I like my maps to be accurate!

Accurate is good, but working offline is also important.

Android app fully supports this.
@Craigrat I tend to agree but, being the consumer I would like maps that are accurate, regardless of who makes themUnless it's apple of course. I love OSM but with the recent removal of some data this annoys me.
